Sandisk Class 10 MicroSD Speed issue

Hey All,

Just price-matched at Officeworks and grabbed myself a Sandisk Ultra SDXC (Class 10 64G) for $52. Most ppl on the Internet says class 10's min speed should be around 10MBps. I've run multi tests with the card using different phones/tablets/laptop and using different file system such as exFAT/NTFS. The write speed fluctuates from 6.5MBps to 7.8MBps and the read is around 12MBps. I reckon it's below the hurdle but wanna get some ideas from you guys.

I am not too fussy about the speed normally as I use it for torrents mostly but do you think if I go for a replacement I would be likely get a significantly faster card?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Bought one from MSY yesterday for $62 - speeds are about the same as yours so I think your card is normal. It's somewhat slower than my Samsung but since I'm only using it for storage purposes, it should be fine.

On another note, I attempted to price match the microSD from MSY at OfficeWorks. Manager (I'm assuming) looked at MSY's website and refused.
Reason? According to her, the card from MSY doesn't include the microSD to SD adapter so therefore it's different and she is unable to pricematch.
Asked if she could compare the product codes to see if there was a difference - they were identical.
She completely disregards it then saying that the image on the MSY site doesn't show the microSD to SD adapter so therefore, it's a different product. It's funny because the picture that OfficeWorks uses doesn't show it either?
Saved myself the hassle of trying to convincing her it was the same product and went to buy it from MSY.

    • Yeah, price matching experience is completely different from store to store. I was running around the city when I tried to PM last Friday. First OW manager gave me some BS excuses saying Sandisk doesn't supply Australian stocks to online shops (I was tempted to say WTFBS); 2nd OW's manager was nice enough to do it but turned out they were out of stock; 3rd one was very nice as well and confirmed the online shop was legit so they beat the price by 5%. For the exact same reason I don't want to trouble them for replacement if not necessary.

  • That's good speed for a SD card! never expect anything near claimed speeds, I have some so called extreme SD cards and they never go above 2MBps

  • Hi OP. Just curious if you are able share the receipt that you price-matched at Officeworks please?

I have just got a S4 and thinking to get a MicroSD to expand the memory.

    Thanks in advance.
