Macbook Air 13"

Hello,

I am wanting to buy a base model 2013 13" Macbook Air. Does anyone know where the cheapest option would be? I am travelling overseas so I can get tax return in addition to an education discount. How much would I be looking to pay? Are there Christmas sales - should I just buy one after I return?

Thanks in advance!

  • There aren't any special Christmas sale prices for Apple goods. Buy it before you leave + GST refund when you go overseas will be the cheapest option.

The max discount that an Apple store employee can give out is 10% and some will give it to you if you just ask nicely/approach it in the right way. If they won't budge then Corporate or Education discount is the next cheapest way (it's around 5% off from memory).

Otherwise, just wait for a 10% off Apple sale at Dick Smith/JB Hifi/Good Guys etc and then buy from them or price match at Apple store. This + GST refund = cheapest option. I got my 2013 256GB MBA 13" for a bit under $1.2k using this method.

    • I'll probably be heading out tonight to try my luck with Dick Smith or Harvey Norman. I've decided that i'd like a 256GB version so i'll probably be looking at around the same price. Cheers.

  • Megabuy have some on special, I am tempted but want a MacbookPro and there are rumours about new models coming out on the 10th. If you search in the window at the top right and scroll down to the Megabuy post they had the best deals I could find.

  • Woops my bad. Including shipping they're doing around $15 less than 10% off so I might just buy online if I can't manage to negotiate a good price at a retailer. Thanks.
