Pioneer Home Theatre VSX-522 HELP

Hi all,

I am having a very big issue with setting up my HT. I have connected my lg TV (55LM7600) to the receiver via hdmi(output port), and turned arc on on both. Sound is coming in and out at all times with no consistency. Searched and tried everything possible but couldnt get it to work till now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  • TV (HDMI out) to Receiver (HDMI 1)
Then change Channel on Receiver to the HDMI 1 Channel.. should work…

    • +1

Thanks for reply man. i actually plugged it into hdmi out on the receiver to hdmi 1 (arc) on the t.v. Seems to not work. Will try this when i get home.

      • Sounds like your compatibility issue then..

  • check whirlpool i have the same issue.
basically this receiver and lg dont like each other.

    • Have been reading a lot for 2 days, basically tried everything out there. Cant get it right. Its so annoying, gonna call pioneer support and see, or take the receiver back to jb, may be the hdmi port is just faulty

    • what did you do to fix yours?

      • +1

basically some functions dont work with LG tv, i have 55LW6500 (55" 3d led with 200hz).
i only remember the sound disappear and i have to re calibrate everything again, and then i will disappear again the next day.
fixed this with using optical cable connecting Pio and LG (ofcourse still using hdmi aswell)

        • Thanks for reply. Thats a big let down from lg, called pioneer support, and they say there is a compatibility issue with lg tvs. Such a shame. Will get an optical cable and one more hdmi cable for ps3 and will give it a try tonight.

        • oh so they acknowledge this issue? kind of relieve but dissapointed, lucky i got the whole package for $250-ish. hope you didnt pay rrp $400

yeah fine once you connect optical (get from ebay $10 or less).

but there are other issues like sub subwoofer on and off. did you get this aswell?

        • Yep they did acknowledge it, may be other people have been complaining as well. I got this one (my post as well)

Havent really tested the system to know if the sub turns off/on. I have spent hours on trying to fix this specific issue. So annoying i should say.

If i plug in ps3 via hdmi to the receiver game port and another hdmi from receiver OUT port to the lg's hdmi (there is 4), it shouldnt be a problem right? i shall get proper image and sound out via optical?

        • oh i have same receiver but with much smaller and cheaper speakers set.

im not expert but it looks ok. same as your bluray player, etc. audio and video from ps3 will go via hdmi to receiver. from receiver, audio go to tv via optical, but video via hdmi.
i have xbox, btw, and i think i have tried you way above and it worked.
this is what i called "xbox-receiver", but now im using "xbox-tv". this means have optical cable run from tv to receiver, and then hdmi from tv directly to xbox. (and tv directly to appletv, etc)

          comparison:

          with xbox-receiver:
on tv remote:change tv input to receiver (from antenna), on receiver remote: change receiver input to game (xbox).
          with xbox-tv
on tv remote:change tv input to xbox. no other actions needed since tv is always fixed connected to receiver via optical cable and hdmi.

        • Got the hmdi cable, connected ps3 to receiver via hdmi 1, then output hdmi 2 from the receiver to the tv and actually worked fine with sound and everything. For that i have to set arc on (receiver and tv). arc off on both

Connected optical audio which i paid 20$ from big w but paid hdmi 5.50$ from chinese shop, to the tv and receiver, worked fine.

I wanted to both setups to work simultaneously but unfortunately it doesnt, when tv is on connected to receiver via optical audio, i need to turn arc off on both tv and receiver. So hdmi (ps3) does not give any sound when i choose game on the remote(as arc is off). I changed the sound on the ps3 to optical but then realised that hdmi is connected to receiver directly and getting output via hdmi which needs arc.

I wished settings could be set on specific signals (game, tv, bd etc) but i think this cannot happen.

As of now, will connect everything to tv, ps3 direct to tv, then get audio from optical audio.

So complicated. Damn pioneer and lg

EDIT: turned arc off on both. Changed tv signal output to channel 1, then tried, looks like both giving audio out seperately, tv via optical and ps3 via hdmi. Tv = C01 and Game = H

        • i cant remember but i think when i have arc on, i cant hear the sound from tv through receiver (after calibrate yes but then next day gone), anyway i have it turn off now.

        • I have it off on both as well. Worked fine yesterday. Will check tonight if still working. Thanks a lot for your help
