TPG re-location is rubbish, require a prepaid SIM to cover me for a week

Was lucky enough to score the apartment opposite mine at short notice, the move required nothing more then opening the 2 doors and moving everything across a hallway.

Everything that is except the internet, notified them of the move last Friday (moved on Tues) and today have been emailed with the scheduled time of Tues 15th, thats well over another week, and I'll be going overseas on the Friday… not ideal for doing final holiday plans etc..

Anyway enough griping about TPG inability to re-locate the service next door. What Im after is an option for a pre-paid SIM, so I can utilize the USB/3G port on my router. Only need it for a week and proably won't need more then a 1 or 2?? Need ASAP? (On the way home form work) Cheap??

  • That is the problem with a fixed line service. Replace TPG with ADSL and that's it.

    • "Replace TPG with ADSL and that's it."

      What do you mean?

      • It isn't TPG specific. A relocation involves a technician appointment by a tech who is qualified/legally allowed to work in a Telstra exchange (ie. a Telstra tech). Makes no difference who you are with.

  • +1

The work required is at your premises. Not at the Telstra exchange at all.
It involves moving 2 wires at a junction box(Main frame) downstairs and would take no more than 5 minutes by a Technician.Hope they are not charging too much.
Nothing to do with ADSL at all.

  • Ended up with a Telstra $30 for 3GB.

As for the work and the charge.. ofcourse Im being overcharged, something like $120 i think. However the fact that Ive only located across the hall is lost on the staff, and they are quoting off the same script. "relocation" is a "relocation" set price and set time frame.

    • I would have shonked up some cabling to save $120.

  • Hack a neighbor's wifi…or failing that…offer them a slab of beer for the key :)
