    i have a cheaper setup, bought a couple of Dlink Cloud Wifi Camera's put them around the house. Best thing is that they also have audio. Can access them from my iphone or PC at work

      Well done! Cloud storage is essential as any half brained thief will take your computer or whatever it is recording to. I would never have a system that saves the video locally unless it is hidden or locked away. Cameras and alarms do not deter some criminals and only make them move faster. I knew some guys a long time ago who would enjoy the rush of the alarms going off as well as a reminder for them to move it fast.

        They are only powered on when i leave home. They have motion and sound sensors that trigger the camera's and take snap shots which is all i need. It then sends me a email alert (which reaches me right away on my iphone) and then i can access the camera's.

        That's basically all i need. Nothing fancy, just a cheap and simple solution.

          Hi Stevo. I have these indoor wall mounted in difficult to see places unless you look really well you wont notice them: One in the living room to access the front Door, One in the hallway that views all the entrances to the rooms, and One in my room. They are all setup with motion sensors so they are not continuously recording. They take snap shots when they detect motion and email me wit an alert. I can then access them remotely with audio too. Pretty neat and cheap setup.

        who is the clown that negged me. i was providing important information. if i broke into a house and noticed a camera i would seize the computer or remove the sd card and people should know that as it renders the security system useless

          it depends on how much i have to carry and the time to remove the camera from the wall. the camera is only useful if it is recording to a sd card locally otherwise the home computer or dvr gets taken. its quicker to just remove the sd card from the camera not remove the entire unit. the average joe gets these cameras and thinks he is safe but when the footage is stored locally inside the same house the criminals have just broken into then the footage might be removed

          decades ago i used to rob people. i am against these kinds of activities as i grew up. so as an ex criminal i am just educating people

          if someone can give me a reasonable reason why my useful comments are being negged please come on down

          fine keep negging me in the shadows i will laugh if you get this system and the crooks take the sd card
          you will regret your unwise stupidity and cheap skate attutide

          i am not bagging the actual deal just letting people know essential information regarding these products

    does any1 know if it will require hard wiring (like most cameras) for power or does it have it's own rechargeable battery?

    edit: Swann website says it has a 5v power supply

    Is there any reason for buying a proprietary kit like this rather than an IP camera and monitor it from your phone/pc/tablet ?

    You can get a genuine Foscam outdoor 720P model for this price.
    Or indoor clones with tilt and pan for half the price.

      how do you tell it's a return? i got mine the only thing that i really dont like is the crappy camera . Colours are way off. The purple hue is damn annoying!

        There was a crack/scratch on the screen of the receiver, the buttons on the camera had a greasy fingerprint on the wifi pair button.

        You can adjust the colours, it is actually a decent unit once i replaced it instore.

        Maybe yours is faulty?
