Soniq 40inch LED TV E40W13C vs E40W13A

So I'm looking for new basic TV for my xbox/blu-ray to replace my monitor. I came across two models on the JB Hifi website, both having the same price and features, the only feature that they put down is that the E40W13C model has 3.5 star energy rating vs 3 star on the E40W13A model.

Is the E40W13C a newer model, or are they both the same. The Soniq E40W13C model seems to have free shipping for whatever reason, but I would pick it up anyway.

Hoping to find out if anyone have other information about the TV's listed. Also, are there any other cheap TV's that are worth looking at?

Here are the links to the JBHiFi website and the TVs I'm talking about.

Thanks!

  • I saw both models side by side and I thought E40W13C was better. The picture had more clarity and was sharper.
    E40W13A I found the picture dull and also shaky for some reason. I made a mental note to get the E40W13C for the bedroom when I could afford it.

  • I went with a friend to get them and they were side by side. The person selling the TVs said they sell 10:1 (Cs to As) and that the difference is that the Cs have a backlight which gives the screen better clarity from many more angles.

  • After much tweeking, I've fixed the Red tint with the following settings (to reduce the red tint even more, raise the "Tint" level to 85+ or more (TINT setting below 50 raises the red colour)-

    In the normal service menu, set the following -
    Normal User Menu
    Picture Mode – User
    Contrast – 50
    Brightness – 50
    Colour – 50
    Sharpness – 100
    Noise Reduction – High
    Energy Savings – Standard
    Colour Temp
    Red = 0
    Green = 0
    Blue = 0

    Then close the normal service meun.
    Click "Source" button on remote.
    While in the "Source" menu, type "200912"
    This will reveal the hidden Service Menu.

    Picture mode
    Brightness – 137
    Contrast – 104
    Colour – 50
    Sharpness – 100
    TINT – 81

    W/B Adjust
    User
    Temp
    R – 108
    G – 132
    B – 140

    Offset all @ 1024

    Special Set
    Dynamic Backlight – 100

    Overscan
    All set to 0

    Colour Temp – User
    All set to '0'

    On TV channels that broadcast 1080, this Soniq TV is now even better than my $6,500 Sony 240 Hz TV! You'll be amazed at the result!
