Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens Cheaper??

Hey guys,

from the various posts i've been seeing I can sense that theres a bit of a photography culture within OzBargain which is great. Wanted to ask if I can find any lower that $110 on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II ? I haggled through Harvey Norman's livechat and getting them to price beat CamBUYs $116 price http://www.cambuy.com.au/Canon-EF-50mm-f-1.8-II/

Before I purchase any knowledge of anywhere cheaper? I would prefer bricks and mortar for my camera gear as it saves me the mental stress of warranty claims.

By the way, Kogan has them listed for $99+$29 Shipping. So even non-Australian warranty ones can be more expensive.

Also my mind is pretty set on that lens for its sharpness and low light capabilities (im still on kit lens) but would be nice to know of what my next goal should be.

$7 savings for a grey import, warranty headache and shipped in 15 to 35 days?

      no thanks.

        Ha, burn.

  • Last month I got the same lens from JB for $115. I just asked what they could do it for.

At the same time Kogan had free shipping, but I needed it in a hurry.

I can't believe you are quibbling over a few dollars. Skip a coffee or walk to the shop and just buy it. If you are into photography get used to paying out money.

    • I bought mine via Kogan last year with the same deal as this. Wish I'd just gone the extra $20 at HN at the time. The lens has issues connecting with my camera.

You've got a reasonable price OP. Just go for it.

We're currently selling 50mm 1.8 at $109 at our three locations, Broadway Camera House (9212-7373), Top Ryde City Camera House(8068-6988), Hornsby Camera House (9476-1086) Sydney.

    • Auslagger, what sort of price do you have on the Sony 50mm f/1.8 DT ?

      • im assuming this is the alpha mount and not their emount for nex?

  • bought one on Eaby for $117 inc shipping back in 2009, and then another one in 2012 from camerasdirect.com.au for $84.

hey guys I went with Camera House and they we're even willing to cut it down to $99. Had some camera expo thingy going on that spread out of the shop space. $99 with a B&R store receipt sure beats Kogans $99. Lucky I waited and good luck to anyone else planning on buying!

Haha, well done. Now you can take that hard saved money and put it to your next lens. The addiction has no cure! Also, be sure to make your way towards the 70-200 f4. Friends tell me it's one of the sharpest Canon lenses out there.
