50% off Tailored Essential Wool Suits at George & King. $249 Delivered

140
FIRSTSUIT

George and King are offering 50% off their Essential Suit range. They are custom tailored suits (I would assume made to measure, not bespoke), and 100% wool, so this really is a rather good deal.

Just enter the discount code at the checkout. You may have issues with it if you've bought a suit from this range before, but if so, just make a new account.

Shipping is free which is nice. Alternatively, go to their pop-up store in the city and get measured up. Not sure if you can get this discount there though.

Enjoy.

ps, if when it's delivered, the suit doesn't fit, they'll pay for up to $75 worth of tailoring at any local tailors.

do you reckon they are coming from china?

    • Where are your clothes made?
Our suits and shirts are hand-crafted by master tailors at George & King's workshop in Hong Kong. Every garment is cut and finished to our exacting standards, ensuring years of quality wear. We are extraordinarily proud of the quality of all our garments.

That's a lie. There are no large scale tailors or production facilities in HK. It's made across the border for sure!

      • a %500 mark up isn't bad in anyone's books
i bet they don't even have a factory just a contract that makes up a small percentage of a factory's business

frondono, not sure what that link you provided has to do with the deal?

but if you're trying to use it as a comparison, the suit you've posted is a wool blend, not wool. Idk if you've ever felt the difference in quality between the two, but I find there's a big difference between a blend and pure wool. Regardless of my opinion, in terms of value, pure wool is worth more and so the suit you posted is not really the same. Plus, while their suits are made in Hong Kong apparently, George & King are aussie owned and a more established and trusted company than random Chinese companies and so there is more quality control even if production is outsourced to foreign factories.

      • Idk if you've ever felt the difference in quality between the two, but I find there's a big difference between a blend and pure wool.

I think many people have an aversion to wool blends because they associate them with cheap suits made predominantly of polyester and nylon. But being "pure wool" doesn't in and of itself make a fabric superior to a wool blend, and there are plenty of valid reasons why even high-end manufacturers make suits with wool blend fabrics.

Wool blended with cashmere, mohair, silk, cotton or linen is common, for example, if a maker wants a different texture or weight. Wool with a small amount of polyester or elastane is also not uncommon, as those materials add substantially to the fabric's durability by improving tensile strength, particularly if the wool used is very fine (such as Super 130s and above). Some slim, fashion forward suits (Armani, Prada, Dior Homme etc.) might add a tiny bit of elastane (~3%) to the fabric to provide a bit of "stretch".

I also suspect that many cheaper suits advertised as "pure wool", particularly where the fabric is of unknown origin, are actually wool blends with a small amount of synthetic material.

        • I also find that "wools ain't wools".
Last time I bought a pure wool suit, there were 4 on the rack that were the same price/maker/type .. Except 1 was much softer than the others.
Cheap wool suits (even 100% pure) can feel like sandpaper. That's why I'd never buy one over the net.

  • Pay what you get and eat what you take…

  • Do you think the model in the 4 pictures look a bit like Aaron Ramsey (for those in the know)?

  • This looks like a really good deal.

Half-canvas construction too (rather than fused). I am very tempted…

  • Which one has more price-performance wise, compared to this one?

    From what I see:
George & King: $249, 100% Wool, Only Suit NO pant, if your suit doesn't fit: $75 tailor alteration, Limited Fabric option, NO Style option (lapel, vents, button hole, lining etc).

Elite Suits :$299, 100% wool, Suit + Pant, If your suit doesn't fit: they pay the full amount to have it altered or arrange for a replacement suit, Various Fabric option, Various Style option.

    • george and king includes pants actually. (:

from the product description if you don't believe me:

        100% pure wool
Hand tailored to fit you perfectly
        Half canvas construction
        Five internal pockets
Functional surgeon's cuff with four buttons
Pants waistband with belt loops, half lined and four pockets

It's not just a jacket or they couldn't sell it as a suit
