  • I've saved a screen shot of the web page when it was at AUD $312.00 and my order.

  • Now we wait…

Hoping for the "In an act of goodwill, citiwide has agreed to reward its loyal customers and honour the deal"

    UPDATE: PRICE CHANGE to AUD$619.00

  • -5

    Cart shows $649…..

  • -2

Prob was promo and lasted 1hour sale.

  • +3

Even though this is a pricing error, I upvoted it because the OP was very sharp and noticing it even though it was only this price for a very small window of time. Props to you.

    • +1

I doubt they will honour it.

  • +1

Good luck to those who bought one, hope they honour it!

  • +1

the big question is, if it is honoured… do I sell this, and keep my xperia z, or sell the xperia z, and keep this.

    • the ultra screen is definitely better than xperia z , trust me

      • I dont really have a problem with the Z screen though..
and the Ultra is bigger (unsure if it will be to big), and heavier, and doesnt have 4g (though while I have it, I rarely use it)

    • +1

In the same position. I'll have to play around with it first but will most likely keep it and sell XZ.

This model Ultra doesn't have 4G, but thanks to Vodafone trying to squeeze more money out of me for the privilege, neither does my XZ.

    • Camera is better on Xperia Z, Ultra has no flash :S

  • I thought it was a pretty good phone so I bought one but as I went to pay it says error in transaction but the money came out? hmm…now it appears to be a price error so ah well…

  • good luck to those who got it at $360 delivered. Price is changed now.

  • If not too many have bought it, they may honour the deal. I guess if they sold 1000, they will no honour it because it mean a loss of $200-300K.

    • and loss of 200-300k is A LOT in HK Dollars….

  • -1

Well $300 looks about right, shouldn't be a pricing error, we get marked up so much compared to usa. There things costs peanuts to make, like iphone which apparently cost around $200 which they triple it. I bet this was a secret sale! Ozbargained!

    • yep usa always have things cheaper than in au

    • It might not cost much to make for the manufacturer but you can bet the retailer isn't getting them for that price. The manufacturer will drop the price when the cost of R&D is hopefully recovered.

They would still be making a loss of perhaps $200 on each after reviewing what others are selling them for.

      • +1

That's right, a big loss per unit if they honour it. This post will probably get voted down but I feel there is something dubious about ozbargain promoting clear pricing errors on the main page. If I was the owner of an online store, or the employee who made the error, I would not want that happening to me.

    • +1

That iPhone might have cost $200 in terms of parts, however you haven't factored in the cost of manufacture, transport, service and repairs, advertising, etc. Your phone's raw cost isn't just the cost of all the parts put together, and people quoting that figure for why their phone is overpriced aren't taking in account the whole story.

    • Hong Kong price also around A$600, the marked up price is from the manufacturer not the retailers like them.

    • In the US its $200 on a contract.

      • Here most phones are free on a contract, so we save $200.

    Paypal Refund has been received.

    • Nothing here yet, but if they're refunding payment that quickly I have to give them credit for not dragging the process out like some other retailers (I'm looking at you Harvey Norman and DSE).

    • I haven't received anything yet as well.

    • What time did you make your purchase?

      • -1

        Mine was at 1 pm

        • Wonder if they are cancelling all orders or just a few.

        • .

        • +1

Sry wrote 10 AM by mistake. its 10 AM on the receipt. somehow they thought I was in GMT+8. then checked paypal and found its 1 PM. :)

  • These price swings are more volatile than the bloody stock market!

This is another one of those price error epic failure.

I honestly think every website and retailer should own up to their mistakes and honour all of the errors.

Especially Kogan with the S4 deal. It was horrific.

  • They cancelled the order, no emails yet but if you click on the order link it shows its being cancelled

    • Mine still says confirmed.

      • Same here.

I'm not getting my hopes up yet though, lol

      • Same here.

      • same with me… and no refund..

        edit: ordered at 12:37pm

  • +1

Of course it was a price error, I mean that was half price lol
Lucky I controlled myself, knew better :)

  • Has anyone else not received a refund?

My order status is still confirmed. No refund.

    • Same here. My order status is confirmed and no refund yet.

    • yeah, I am the same.
      ordered at 1237

      • I ordered at 11:29.

Maybe they have a cut off?

        • -2

thats what I am thinking… maybe they only had so many in stock, and are honouring the first batch of people that ordered, and refunding those who have ordered once stock has been exhausted?

        • Or Maybe, they're refunding latest orders first and working their way down to the earliest. Although your idea sounds more ideal perhaps.

        • why the neg votes? I was just posting a theory as to why some people received refunds, while others didn't…

        • I like your theory to be true as I've ordered one but still in confirmed status.

        • yeah, I thought that as well..
but its now 5pm, and you would imagine they would have gotten through refunding the bulk of the orders by now.. yet there are still a bunch of us that havent been refunded, and the order still says comfirmed

  • +1

not sure what people expected.. lol

history tells us that you won't get the item at some crazy price

    • +4

That statement isn't the case everytime.
I have been a part of at least 2 of these have have resulted in the company honouring the pricing error.
-G27 steering wheel from Dick Smith for $20 delivered (RRP$499, normal price $300)
-7000mah Sony Power Bank from JB Hifi for $30 delivered (RRP$130).
      Possibly more I cannot remember.

Since this success I often take the chance (in the cases where I know the company isn't a fraud and will refund the money if they don't honour it obviously).

  • I was just refunded the amount of $ 367.00 from Citiwide Tech without even informing me that it was a pricing error.. has anyone else's order gone through without this?

  • -1

I think this was a phishing expedition, to ramp up their customer database… hmmm..

  • did anyone notice they replied back with your username and password in cleartext (via email)….not a good sign..

  • i make three order
    two once been cancled
dont how about the first order
    hope it will gone through
otherwise i am gonna pick one nexus 10 straight away

  • Hmm still no refund for me. Starting to cross my fingers!

  • phew. I'm glad I missed NOTHING.

  • Mine has been cancelled

  • Refunded also. Queue "Never buying from Citiwide evar Again!11!!".

  • just received my refund.. bought at 1237.

    good luck to everyone else.

  • Cancelled and refunded here; I'm honestly pretty happy that they refunded this the same day rather than holding onto the money for a week or more like many retailers…

  • Refunded!!

  • My order was cancelled and refunded. Very quick action on the seller side. I ordered it at 12:31.

  • Refunded…ah well that's ok as a price error, although would have liked an email or something together just to explain why it was cancelled.

all my order was been cancled

    • How many did you order?

  • Simple sales tactics

    • +1

So how did that pricing error translate into a sale? Or even goodwill?

      • I think he means, they draw you in with a low price, or a misprint, and then they're told they're sold out or they can't have it for that price because it was an error, then you end up browsing other stuff they sell and buy something else instead.

Car dealerships do this all the time.

I don't think this is what they did though. I think it was an honest mistake.

        • Ahh, he must be very unfamiliar with the OZB community. Pricing errors don't usually end up well for the company. :)

I do think it's a mistake too. Online shopping isn't like retail shopping - a cough pricing error cough won't result in people physically walking past aisles filled with products.

  • how long does it take to get a refund from paypall back to credit card?
