Red Energy Contract Rollover Terms

Hi, I am hoping someone has had some experience with this before. My 2 year contract with Red Energy is about to expire. In the mail I have received a letter with the new terms for my account if I do nothing.

It states: "Unless you enter into an alternative arrangement with us prior to your current contract expiring on 09 December 2013, this Agreement will take effect from the date your meter is read."

It also lists for this arrangement: "Sign up Terms: 2 year fixed term contract. Early Termination Fees - $40/year 1, $20/year 2."

Logic tells me that if I rollover my contract without signing anything new (as I did 2 years ago), that I would not be liable for any early termination fee, but does anyone know if I am effectively entering into another 2 year contract by doing nothing? If the answer is yes, how would you ever get out without an early termination fee.

Cheers for the help guys,
Sam.
