Paypal Transactions

Does anyone have any experience or comments about using the ‘Auspost Card’ or the Woolworths Card’ for paypal transactions?

We are trying to minimise our exposure to possible fraud of our bank accounts when using ‘Paypal’ and thought this might be a possibility.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

  • Good question. I its something I want to know too. Did you Google or check what whirlpool for a discussion already?

  • If you're that paranoid about it, deposit the money into the paypal account when you need to use it. I've been using paypal for about 8 years now. No issues at all (touch wood).

Plus (my own paranoid side coming out), I only ever have a few dollars sitting in my credit/debit account. So, if my details get used, they'll only have access to a dollar or two.

    • Doesnt that eleminate credit card charge back as an option

      • If you're not using a credit card, then I guess so. The refunded money will sit in the Paypal account until you transfer it back to your own bank account.

        • I would prefer the protection

  • Cards not issued by a bank/not funded/loaded by way of a direct bank account link are not PP accepted. Proper debit cards and other cards issued by a bank and loaded by BPAY or cheque, yes.

Visa/Mastercard in and of themselves are not a 'bank'. For cards to fit the bank-issued, bank-funding-link criteria, third parties like Woolworths and REV Cards go into specific arrangements with specific banks AND Visa/Mastercard to issue specific products.

I haven't looked up the specifics of the cards you're alluding to, but the above should help.
