Cheapest way to post from US to Australia

Hi guys,

I am going on a holiday to New York in about a month and am hoping to buy a DJ controller over there as they are much cheaper. It will be a pretty bulky item so I want to post it back to myself while I am there. What would be the cheapest way to do so? UPS came out at $200-250 which seems very excessive so what are some better options? Time is not important however cost and tracking is as it is a rather expensive item. I think the one I am going to purchase weighs 9.9lbs

Cheers!

  • have you had a look at USPS? The other option is sea mail services.

    • Yeah it came out to over $200. How would I go about finding sea mail services over there. I'll be on limited time and in a foreign city so I want to have a plan before I get there.

Davo1111 was referring to United States Postal Service, not United Parcel Service. One is a courier service, the other is the mailman. USPS options are generally considerably cheaper. Both have websites where you can enter weights/dimensions/method of carriage and estimate the fees. See http://postcalc.usps.com/

try http://www.forwardit.us they charge $9.99 for the service, then have cheap rates to forward to Aust via USPS.
excellent for purchasing anything in the U.S at a cheaper rate. You just put the web address in of the item you require, and they do up a quote, you pay, they purchase and forward to you. You have several options of delivery depending on how quick you required your product.

    • Good service works well.

    • This isn't the service I am after however. I will actually be physically in the country and will post the item myself while I am there.

      • wouldn't it be cheaper to bring it back with you?

        • Most definitely but it might be a little too big for my bag.

    • Thanks. Will try this when I shop for things that US won't ship to Aus

  • 8 times out of 10, if you're shipping something under 4 pounds (1.81kg) that will fit into a box no bigger than 60x60cm, USPS First Class International is the cheapest option: https://www.usps.com/ship/first-class-package-international-…?
