Any recommendation for a good Used car dealer?

Hi mates,

I am in search for a used car and decided to go with Corolla. Anybody knows any good Used car dealer - of course (Oz)bargain friendly one?

Also, I got an offer for $17,250 for a 2011 Corolla Sport with 3 months rego. Is it worth paying that amount?

Your suggestions Plzzzzzzzz. Thanks in advance……

All dealers are dodgy mateeeeee. Warranties don't mean anything.

Buy from a private seller. They are usually cheaper!

For a Corolla, why don't you try the government auctions? The government and companies flip their fleet yearly and good cars come up with low kms and the balance of a new car warranty.

Corollas seem to be one of the most popular cars.

Check out Pickles Auction in Belmore and Manheim in Moorebank.

    Good luck.

    • Dealers may be dodgey, but at least youre protected by government law. If you purchase through a private dealer, ACL wont cover you.

Take a look on carsales and carsguide to see other Corollas around for sale, as well as Redbook.com.au for a rough estimate and specs.

If you go to a dealer, ask lots of questions, as because theyre treated as a "professional", anything they say can be legally binding. For example if you ask if there's been a past accident with the car, they say no, but then 6 months later, you find out there has been, youre entitled to return the car under ACL. As opposed to a private seller, where they're not liable for anything after you swap keys for cash.
In this sense, think of the extra you pay to a dealer as an insurance againt anything wrong with the car.

Of course, after you buy the car, always get it checked by your mechanic. If there's any major repairs, you can take it back to the dealer and get them to pay the bill

    • Don't be silly of course warranties mean something. I bought a Civic a few months back from a used dealer and it has been back twice for some repairs under warranty and it has been no issue at all. I would recommend purchasing from used lots like Toyota's trade ins or something like that rather than your dodgy "Mr Happy Smiles Used Cars" or whatever.
