120

Psyclone Source Selector (Model:PSC01BK) - Target $49.99

4 inputs for Component Video and Composite Video, S-Video, Digital Optical Audio, Analogue Audio and Ethernet. 1 output.
IR Remote Control.
Customizable Display (source name).

If you are running out of inputs on your AV receiver or LCD/Plasma TV, this is the solution.

NOTE:
Does not have HDMI (it would be a luxury for this price).
Does not have Digital Coax Audio (no problem, most of DVD, STB, PVR and AV receiver have optical interfaces anyway)
Does not convert audio or video formats (it's just a selector/AV switch).

They are going fast! I picked up the last one today.

  • Wow, Ethernet too.. almost wish I needed one. Very good price so +1

    • What would the ethernet be used for?

Don't need one either, I'm slowly converting everything to DVI/HDMI but this looks very interesting.

      • Is the ethernet port thing just basically a switch? I am guessing that this part of the system wouldn't work like the other inputs and would stay on all the time, for example if you have a TIVO and a xbox connected you wouldn't necessarily want to turn the internet off on one when you turned display of the other on. Not sure only a guess.

        • They act as a "switcher" as opposed to a proper networking switch. Basically just wires swapping.

  • hope they still have some on the weekend!

  • Thats very cheap! i bought a Joytech one a year or so ago for about $100 but mine has 7 inputs

  • Seems pretty good - bought one on Wednesday but haven't had a chance to hook it up. Seems a bargain!

  • I too saw this in the Red Circle Boutique catalogue (see page 6) and thought it was an excellent buy.

  • It looks nicer than mine, and is cheaper. still unsure if it is a network switch as well, somehow

  • Yea it looks good - and I will probably pick one up if they haven't sold out.

I'm confused by the ethernet ports though - surely it's not actually a network switch… or are there some appliances that use the RJ45 port to transmit audio / video?!?

  • There where two left at Carlingford (Sydney), now there is one left :) Pretty good unit.

Kojack. It's not a "network" switch, but just a switch to switch the devices and yes there plenty of devices that use Ethernet, XBOX(360) PS2/3, Sat Receivers, Media Centres etc.

  • it doesn't support VGA.

  • I'd initially discounted this unit, as the catalogue description doesn't list S-Video amongst the switched inputs.
The photo shows that it in fact has 5 x inputs: Component Video (RGB) (+ Analogue Audio), Composite Video (+ Analogue Audio), S-Video, Digital Optical Audio and Ethernet.
I'd also convinced myself that I'd be better holding out for a unit that supports HDMI, but then of course it would cost $199,99, not $49.99.
I think I'll just have to brave the shops tomorrow and see if I can still get one…

    • I've been down this path with a Joytech model I think is exactly the same. It's ok, but when you start going for the good stuff (HDMI upscaling etc). You really need to just lump it and get a proper AV system. They are around the $1000 for decent ones still. If your tv is HDMI, these are not really what you want. If you're still on component, these are great.

      • I managed to one up y'day in BrisVegas.
At that time (11am) there were none at W'field Carindale and one left at Mount Gravatt Plaza.
