Shopping in the USA

Hi folks,

I am going to the USA next month to New York and I am hoping to grab a few bargains while I am there, particularly on clothes. I am also hoping to buy a DJ controller while I am there and either take it in my bag or post it back to myself. Does anyone have any shopping tips for me? I will be present for the Black Friday sales which I know are a big event and it all seems a bit overwhelming I don't quite know how to tackle that situation!

Cheers

Slickdeals.net is the American equivalent of OzBargain. They have a special forum for Black Friday and New York.

  • Jealous; I lived in the states for 5 years and miss the shopping so much…!

link below for a 10% discount at Macys for O/S visitors however check out the local papers as they often have a 25% or 30% multiuse coupon for weekends and from memory for black Friday sales. This will usually stack with the sale items. I would ask at all department stores (and even at outlets)if there are any current coupons that can be used

good tip from humdingaling to take one suitcase buy one there

Black Friday is always interesting. I did queue one year from 5am in the snow for cashmere sweaters, however department stores were no worse than the DJs and Myers Xmas sales over here. Avoid Best Buy and Toys R Us unless necessary as they are usually frantic

Good luck and happy bargain hunting.
