Google Nexus 5 (probable announcement date/time)

Hey, guys, this is the possible announcement time for the google nexus 5, based on the following tips:

The timings translated to australia (AEST) should be 2AM.

I would suggest staying up if you wanna snag the phone from the google play store (not sure if us Australians will be able to purchase it on launch though).

These are the probable specs:

  • 4.95 inches of display screen
  • 1,920 x 1,080 resolution with 445 ppi pixel density
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • Android 4.4 KitKat OS
  • 8 MP camera with Optical Image Stabilisation
  • 1.3 MP front-facing camera shooter
  • Weighs 130 g with dimension of 63.17 x 137.84 x 8.59 mm
  • 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB/32 GB internal storage without microSD support
  • microUSB, SlimPort enabled, dual microphones, Ceramic power and volume keys

16Gbs will be about 349$ in the US store, so I anticipate that translates to 399$ Au.

Just a handy reminder/heads up :)

  • Still not sure if I'm a fan of the design (especially the raised camera on the back), but the price is hard to argue with.
Here's a Reddit thread with hands-on impressions and pictures if anyone's interested.

  • Do you think they will have enough this time to supply aus ?

I am able to get a lumia 920 for $220 from a friend as he doesn't like WP8 and its only 6 months old.

So stay up till 2am and maybe get this or lumia 920 tbh I don't think the nexus IS camera will be better.

    • The lumia camera is PROBABLY better, but nexus means newest version of android and massive developer support is also something you must consider. Basically you need to see where your priorities lie.

  • Do you guys think that the price will drop by christmas by any chance ?

    • Within two months of release, on a phone with little to no profit margins as it is? Highly doubtful
