Aldi in title would be good

  • Wonder if you could use this to weigh a bike

    • probably could if it can weigh a suitcase. Depends on the weight range.

    • Did exactly that yesterday!

  • When does this go on sale?

I have a Chinese brand one. Not as accurate as carrying a lugguage on a weight scale and work out the different weight.

    • Good idea to check the accuracy before travelling to allow for variance.

    • The Aldi one appears to be the same as the chinese one in the ebay link below for what it's worth.

I don't know how accurate this one is but i got some for my family from Salter and they are very accurate.

Cheapest at the moment is $19 from Binglee with free shipping http://www.binglee.com.au/salter-9500-luggage-scale-12882

    • +1 to that…bought for $15 from Binglee…Its very accurate and close to Airport check-in weighing system.

If you can wait for a few weeks, I got mine on ebay for about $6.

    Works well.

    • Same here.. Seen them on scoopon deal for $19, Looked on ebay, $5.50…

I felt sorry for the 50 people that bought…

I prefer non-digital ones, as battery powered ones are guaranteed to go flat just when you need to use them urgently.

These scales also don't have a top hook, so you can't hang it from a door frame then hang luggage from it. If you have large unweildly bags that need to be weighed and can't be lifted with one hand, these handheld scales will be useless. I don't know many people who could pick up 40kg in one hand. Even if you could, holding it steady enough to get an accurate reading while trying to look at it at the same time would be very difficult.

Most airlines have weight limits around the 22-25kg mark, but some allow for up to 33kg, and if you're weighing overweight bags just to see how much excess you'll have to pay, something with a top hook will be much better. You hand the scales from a door or bathroom hook, then hang the heavy bag from it.

I use one of these, if you can afford to wait they're actually excellent and very accurate (I always get the same number on my scales and on airport scales)
