i7-4770K and Z87-UD5H motherboard.

Amazon has the 4770k at $338 and the motherboard at $209.99 BUT Amazon has them unavailable for international shipping.

Cheapest according to statice is $366 and $297 respectively.

That's $120 extra.

Any ideas as to where I could get a better deal? Do Scorptec, PCCG or any others do price matching? I know they're unlikely to match Amazon but they might be able to do at least a little. Right?

  • You can always ask, but I doubt it. You can always use a mail forwarder and see if it's worth the savings.

  • +1

Hey mate, im doing a similar build atm and I have done the math. It is not worth getting the cpu and motherboard forwarded. All up by the time it gets here you will end up saving about $50 or so and if DOA or a problem occurs forcing you to deal the warranty claims etc, sending it back and forth.

On the other hand for a GPU + ram i'd say go for it. I ordered my EVGA GTX 780 SC + corsair veng (2x8gb) ram and i'm having it forwarded all up with that I end up saving $150 AUD or so. You also want to check if the parts you are getting have international warranty. EVGA and corsair offer international warranty on all their products.

As for the 2nd half of your questions PCCG and others dont price match, I asked them.

    Hope that helps, Cheers.

    • Wow. Thanks for that, man. You just answered all my questions.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you getting your parts from? And just wondering, how similar are our builds?

      • I purchased my Graphics card and Ram from Amazon, all up came to be 4lb so almost 2kg. I'm having it forwarded by a company called comgateway. They will charge about $50 AUD to send it here.

My machine is going to be built for heavy gaming.
        -4770k
-Evga GTX780 SC (maybe SLI when the next gen cards come out if needed)
        -Coolermaster haf x case
        -Asus Sabertooth z87 motherboard
        -Corsair AX860 Platinum PSU
        -Noctua NH-D14 cpu cooler
        - Aerocool touch 2100 fan controller
-Corsair veng Low profile (2x8gb) RAM- (low profile as high profile will not fit under the noctua cooler)
+ additional fans and lights to pretty it up
        :)

I think that covers the lot!

Edit: If your machine if not for gaming/ your not going to overclock don't bother getting the 4770k. Look at something below it.

        • Nice!

I purchased the 4770k and UD5H from PCCG setting me back by $730 in the process O_O

          Here's what I'm doing:

          i7-4770k

          Gigabyte Z87X-UD5H

Sapphire 7950 OC Edition (have it already)

          8GB Corsair XMS3 1333MHz (have this too)

          Coolermaster Elite 430 (current case)

Antec HCG-720W PSU (have this too)

Antec Kuhler H20 620 (have this too)

Scythe Kaze Master 3.5' Fan Controller (4 Channel) (have this as well)

4x120mm 1200RPM fan with blue LEDs. (Have em)

1x120mm 1600RPM fan with blue LEDs. (Have em)

Yep. Overclocking the 4770k. Need it for video editing, CAD, 3d renders. Lots of multi-tasking.

Btw. What thermal compound will you be using? The default?

        • I suggest Arctic silver 5, it has been proven to be one of the best in the market. I have been using the stuff for years now. But remember its better to be under-applied and than over-applied with paste.
