Getting paintwork fixed on car

Hello,

I would like to tidy up the paintwork on my car. There are two areas where my car has been damaged, there is a 10 cm ding from a car door in the centre of my door. The paint is intact, but there is an obvious vertical indent along a contour line of the door. Another panel has been scraped, while there is no damage to the panel, there is damage to the paint (an area about the size of a tissue box).

Just wondering where you would recommend I take my car for repairs? Do I go to a panel beater or is the damage too minimal? I have seen those companies that come and fix your car at your place, but am wondering how good they are? Any suggestions or advice about these repairs would be greatly received!

Many thanks,

Louise

  • Many place do patch jobs, it's their bread and butter work. You might cry when they give you a quote though

Depending on the size of the dent, they might just pull it out (suction).

As for the scrape, you might be able to repair it using off the shelf products. A professional touchup will look nicer though

  • i think the ballpark figure for a panel to be painted is $250 - $350

    its very very expensive

and thats before any dent or metal repair work

  • If you have time on your hands, it's only about $60 to purchase the materials (paint, primer, sand paper, etc.) and a days work to repair the scrap. Lots of YouTube tutorials for touch up. :).
