What's Call of Duty Ghosts like?

Hey guys, do you own the new call of duty ghosts on wii u or any other platform and if you do is it a good game and worth buying?

  • Its ok, I've played several hours of multiplayer now. Feels just like any other MW game to be honest. A little more polished in places and is both fun and infuriating.

  • The last one.

It's Shootmans Simulator 2013. If you don't feel like it this year, you've always got next year to buy Shootmans Simulator 2014, and every year for the rest of your life.

Each year? More like 6 months. And then there are all the other Call of Battle Medal clones.

Welcome to the Cash-In-Industry. Where innovation is punishable by death.

Not entirely true, there are tons of great innovative games out there. Two reasons why this isn't one of them:

1: 'AAA' titles take HUGE piles of cash, and investors are only interested in safe bets.

2: There are so many (historically) good games now, buying a 5 year old game can be every bit as good as a new release (compare this with the 90s). As a result big game releases need to push online features and connectivity mostly to block out competition with the previous release of the same game. Great single player doesn't do much for sales, you are competing with a huge range of existing titles.

There are plenty of smaller studios making all kinds of great games though. Plus I'm certain there are tons of great games that any gamer has still yet to play, even if they aren't the latest releases.

        • Don't ask me, I only play Dwarf Fortress.

Have you seen Zynga's new game? I laughed so hard.
"What game is really popular right now?"
          "Oh, League of Legends!"
"I'VE GOT IT! LET'S MAKE A TERRIBLE MOBA GAME!"
          "BRILLIANT!"
I am both disgusted and intruiged to see if this can bring them back from one foot in the grave.

Some AAA games are amazing, but anything living inside that "Game A Year" model needs to take a dirt nap.

(Does XCOM or Red Dead Redemption count as AAA games? Because I choose them as my example for good AAA games.)

        • LET'S MAKE A TERRIBLE MOBA GAME!

MOBAs work very well because they lock you in to online services, you need to play with other people, so you get them to buy the game and they can force you to upgrade latter. This is of course pure business model and nothing to do with game play.

Does XCOM or Red Dead Redemption count as AAA games? Because I choose them as my example for good AAA games.

I wouldn't count XCOM:EU, Declassified might count. It was much smaller budget and never intended to compete with mainstream titles. RDR certainly counts, though to be honest I felt it was OK, but really didn't live up to the hype.

AAA is all a matter of perspective though.

        • I didn't listen to the hype. That's how you win out in these kinds of games. That's why I'm the only person who thinks GTA5's online is half baked, coz my friend was shoving propaganda down my throat about it for 9 months.

You can't believe everything you hear…… Especially if you hear it from Peter Molynuex.

But really, is there ANY MOBA games that you actually 'buy', these days? Gotta pay for them skins brah, my hero needs a new hat!

        • Probably the last mainstream one that people bought was Heroes of Newerth (back when it had a box cost)…and it's been in decline for a few years now, despite it's F2P conversion.

        • +2

          More like Heroes of Newberth.

I'm the only person to ever make that joke. But in all seriousness, the aesthetic model works well with these kinds of games.

Pay to win? Not for MOBA games, it's pay to be FAAAABULOUS!

  • the last CoD game I enjoyed is World at War. couldn't enjoy modern warfare 2 and 3. ghosts looks interesting but maybe because I haven't played black ops, a lot ppl say there's no real improvements compared with black ops II.

    • Apparently I can't say I ******* hated BlOps 2.

      • lol I thought you were mad at me. so should I play black ops 1 & 2?

        • No need to.

        • getting a shirt is good enough

  • Black ops one was by far my most favorite cod (multiplayer) just as good as cod4

    • I disagree though I did like it as well. Some of the maps were great and the dogs were fun.

  • Even with all the problems of Black Ops 2, i much prefer it over Ghosts.

Hopefully a mega patch is released to fix some of the issues that plague the PC version.

Still can't believe that Activision have started permabanning over the Fovely workaround for the 65 FOV. They had no problem with it in MW3.

  • Playing on 360. Loving it after one night. The maps are so much more complex than the last 2 games where they were more like dummy movie sets. Now they feel like real locales and it all feels more like MW1 & 2 again. Well done game devs.

  • Does anyone know if the PC version has complete offline bots for multiplayer death match and such? Apparently offline blackops2 bots still needs to be online?

    • Most single player games these days need to be online, good luck with this.

    • Yep, need to be online for bots as it's through multilayer.

      • Oh goodie, do I need to be online to play singleplayer too? Do I need to be online to change the sound?

Do you care so much that you need to know the volume I have the SFX at, Blizzactivision?

      • well that sucks. Do you know if it the bots are actually online hosted then like I believe they are with blackops 2, I have satellite internet with a ping of about 1000ms :(

        • I doubt that would be the case Jumpo. If you plan on playing offline (bot mode - not actually sure it exists though) that would be fine I'd say. Extinction is a pretty good mode.

        • alright then thanks beakeroo :)

        • I'm pretty sure it's the Activision motto that if you're not shooting another real person then it doesn't deserve to be in the game.

In fact, I'm quoting a lot of people I know in real life. They'll only play multiplayer games. "What's the point of killing computers? They're not alive" Actual quote.

I'd like to see a pie graph of the ones who actually complete/play the singleplayer and the ones who buy these games just for multiplayer.

(Hint, the multiplayer one is a bloody huge percentage) Someone told me the ending in Call of Duty: Luigi's Mansion is directly copy-pasted from Modern Warfare 2, though this may just be complete and utter bull-ploppery.

        • There's a scene in it that is sorta copy/pasta material. I saw it on kotaku. I used to play single player before multiplayer but since CoD became total crap (in terms of the campaign) I haven't bothered W@W was a glitch fest, Black Ops was boring as hell, never even tried MW3 or BlOps 2 single player.
