Can A Travel Site do this?!!!

i got this email back after paying for the ticket.( BYOjet.com.au )
they wanted to confirm the ticket for an extra $348.

Unfortunately your booking was not successful with the airline. Airlines have many tariffs on the same flight these are dynamic and can change very quickly. Only a certain amount of seats are available at each fare. As soon as these are sold the lowest fare moves to the next tariff. The fares quoted on our website are dynamic and are as provided by the airline at that precise time, fares not guaranteed until ticketed. In some cases when the ticket is requested these seats are no longer available and the booking is rejected by the airline, even though they quoted this fare a short time before.

At the moment we can offer you the following options;

    They must have a pretty poorly designed site/booking system. Just cancel and book with another company.

    not impossible. I would imagine that this is written somewhere (in small characters?) in their T&Cs… pretty standard in my opinion. This is termed as slippage in forex trading IIRC. basically they know that there is a processing delay within transactions, e.g. their search systems probably crawl through (huge?) airline databases, payment are almost never instantaneous in my experience, particularly with foreign currencies.

    I am, of course, speaking from a technical perspective, definitely not a legal one.

    That's strange. I just booked through them (for someone else) and it's all gone fine (for now, I guess).

    Did you try plugging in the reservation into checkmytrip?

    Generally, it's best to book directly with the airline, that way, things like this don't happen. I only book through an agent if the airline's own website is a pain in the rear (China Southern, Eastern etc.) or if there's a considerable saving.

      If you can't see the booking on checkmytrip you might need to use www.virtuallythere.com as Emirates and Travelscene use Sabre GDS.

    when i got the tickets i was excited to see my folks back home,,, excitement lasted only for 2 hours till i got that email,,,

    I have got the refund for the Ticket Now ,

    i normally buy from Airline website , but this was under a special offer ( with a huge T.C)

    anyways,,, i am still looking for a good deal to fly to India.

    With emirates , i find it really strange , its expensive to fly to Dubai (return) , but its cheaper to go to Paris ( return) with stop over at Dubai.
    Its the same with Ethihad.

      If you want a direct non-stop flight to UAE there is not a lot of competition. If you want a one-stop flight to Europe there is a lot of competition.
