Is the Wii U sales that bad? Two retailers are no longer stocking Wii U consoles

Few weeks ago Dicksmith was clearing out Wii U's for half price alongside accessories and games.

Now Big W seems to be doing the same but not as heavily discounted like DS.

Reduced to clear at Big W.

I think that's just to clear space for the bundles incoming.

I think this is the case. The NSMBU & Luigi U Wii U bundles are coming soon, not to mention if you search Wii U on the Big W site, CoD Ghosts is there.

DSE on the other hand…well I got their catalogue today, and they were advertising CoD ghosts for all platforms except the Wii U.

Yes sales are bad and it seems that Nintendo is still trying to capture the audience of the original Wii with games like Wii Party U, Wii Fit U and Wii Sports Club instead of trying to convince Nintendo fanboys (like myself) that the console is worth buying. It will have a better variety of games than the psbone will.

Most people will disagree with your last opinion.

What? The better variety part? Xbox 360 was my console of choice this generation and it seemed like so many of the games were shooters or something were violence was part of the core game play. Just look at the titles for Xbox One, Ryse, Titanfall, Dead Rising 3, Destiny, Halo 5, you get my point. But as you said it is my opinion.

Xbox also had the immense Forza series but yeah, the Xbox is pretty much a FPS console.

The PS3 had Uncharted series, The Last Of Us, PlayStation All Stars, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo, Killzone, Rain and the list goes on.

        • Yeah I probably should've gone with PS3 due to games like Heavy Rain and The Journey as well as free online. I went with Xbox for Halo and 343 turned that into CoD, so to the Wii U!

        • The Xbox had Alan Wake, Halo, Gears of War, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Viva Pinata, Forza, Fable, Castle Crashers/Tales of V/mass effect 1 (on timed release, some for quite a long time), Crackdown, Banjo Kazooie.

Just saying, both systems had their good exclusives, it's up to people personally what they like. Fable and Halo were enough to win me over last gen, but we will see how things go this next one.

        • Fable 3 was one of the biggest disappointments I've ever had in gaming. I loved the first two but three was a PoS much similar to my Gears Of War experience.
Alan Wake was great though it isn't an exclusive.

        • Alan Wake is an exclusive - it's not fair to say just because it's on PC it isn't an exclusive, since generally Microsoft let both happen because they own the PC operating system it runs on also.

Also came out like 3 years later on PC.

        • The discussion was buying games that are available to play on other systems so yeah, it's more than fair. Also Steam games run on Mac/Linux as well, as far as I know MS do not own those OS and time machines have little part to play in this either so when it came out is not an issue.

        • Actually, Steam games don't just run on Mac/Linux, only games made for mac/linux that are on Steam do - and it isnt that many that do, the vast majority of which are indie titles.

        • Journey can be completed in a few hours so I don't think it is worth switching consoles.

Ugh bought it @ DSE during the sale and still haven't touched it :(

    • I'll give take it off of your hands if you don't want it. PM me if you want to talk.

      • There are still consoles available in remote stores.
        Just ring around.

        • Hey I live remote lol

        • Called all three store out my way, no luck.

    • same here bud :/

Same applies mate, if you don't want it I'll cash you out.

        • haha thanks for the offer, but I think I'll hold onto it seeing as brawl and MK8 coming out soon. Stay posted for bundles though :)

    • I was one of the first people to see the deal and I was really contemplating with purchasing the Wii U. I had to say no as I've only completed 2 games out of 13 games I've purchased for the PS3. ):

      • I might complete 25% of the games I buy, though I only platinum 10% roughly.
On the 3DS though I seem to finish games at a much higher rate. Probably because I am more selective about the games I buy on that.
