Nexus 7 (2013) owners recommend a Nexus 7 (2013) case

I'm gonna be getting a nexus 7 (2013) soon hopefully around $250
And was wondering what everyone's using as a case and liking. Thought I'd do something crazy and order the case before I get the tablet this go around. For some reason Google wants top dollar for their casing which I don't understand.

I have a hp touchpad with the official touchpad case and love this case. slim fitting, automatically cleans the screen when it's closed a nice upright and wedge standing options and other than the fact it warps its great. Seems xda users like the moko slim fit case and the poetic slim case but was wondering if anyone had any thing they liked that was affordable to get in or into Australia.

  • My wife bought the same case for her 1st generation Nexus 7, and has bought the 2nd generation case from them for her 2nd generation Nexus 7.

Great as has the mount for the car seats for the kids.

  • I just bought the official Asus premium cover on Monday

I just wanted a nice slim cover that wouldn't add to the bulk of the unit. Paid just under $35 for it at Harvey Norman. Two thumbs up, like it very much!

    • Thats pretty much exactly what I'm looking for except the lack of autowake is sad. Such a nice case and they didn't add that in.
Do you find that design stands up ok in the upright position. I use my current tab in that position a lot while cooking ect.

      • The autowake would be a nice feature, also being able to stand in portrait as well as landscape orientation would be good. I did see a case review article somewhere and there was a case that would do portrait and landscape but it was a bulky case and I wanted to keep it slim.

This one stands up very well in both positions. The lower angle obviously feels more stable as the tablet is resting on the stand, but when you turn it the other for a more upright angle it feels a little more precarious and a bump at the top will knock it over.

Regardless of that I'm very happy with it. When I bought the tablet I also grabbed the travel cover, not realising it was for the older model - I returned it for a refund, but the premium cover feels so much better than the travel cover.

  • I've got the poetic slimline and I don't recommend it. The material of the case is poorly held together and has started to split on the front side, the stand angles in both positions are pretty awful, the lower position is too low and the upright position makes it obscure to see/use the tablet if you are sitting at a desk.

I also have the official smart case from Asus, I prefer it over the poetic case. Even though it doesn't have the autowake function, the case makes it a lot easier to use the buttons on the side, which for me, makes up for the lack of autowake. The material is also nicer to hold.

They ended up costing the same price for me (I bought the poetic case from Amazon and the shipping really bumped up the price).

    • Dang I actually liked the design on that one DX

  • I've been eyeing this one looks nice but need to do some further research on it. Nillkin Slim cover
edit oh damn fits 2012 only I really liked the materials on this one. DX

  • looking at some Moko Slim case knock offs on ebay and asking the sellers if auto wake is built in since it's an obvious knockoff but it's not in the description.
Here's the real version if you want to see it. Moko slim case

  • All the sellers responded in less than a day impressive! They all said it didn't include auto wake kinda funny if they went all the way to copying the moko 95% but didn't include that. At 13.50 aud I figured it was worth a gamble to see if it did as most of these sellers don't even bother to get a hold of one to test they're all just drop shippers. So I'll see how it goes and quality too. Here's the one i ordered might arrive sometime around Dec 9th. Moko ultra slim knockoff

    • +1

December 4th it arrived! Moko slim knockoff red This is the one I ordered. I even asked the seller if it had auto wake and the seller said "it has no function" but I received it today and am happy to say it does have auto wake magnets built into it. Since it's so new it's a little difficult to get it into upright display position but I think wearing the pleather out a bit will fix this. The case seems very good quality and I wouldn't be surprised if it came from the same factory the Moko original case was made in. I've only had it for less then an hour but overall it seems like a great extremely thin lightweight case which has auto wake (unlike the official expensive asus/nexus case) and is of good quality for only $13 Aud and a long wait.

  • the only cover I'd recommend is the Poetic Slimline. google it and you will find heeps of good reviews..has the sleep on close function too.

i bought mine from this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=111354…

I've got a moko too and the Poetic is in a different class, just feels better quality and better fitting.

MOKO and other chinese branded ones are crap…I've tried them all
