To LG G2 or not to LG G2

Hi all,

I am considering upgrading from my galaxy 1 (i9000). For those of you old enough to remember this phone, it was awesome.

I was looking at a Note 3 but unsure of the "palmability".

So, now looking at the G2.

Questions

  1. Should I buy AU stock or grey import?
  2. LG have only 1 year warranty, both on grey import and AU stock. In this case, what is the benefit of buying local?

Before anyone says get the Nexus 5 the answer is no for now. Battery life reviews are a little bit sucky and so is the speaker (which looks like stereo but ain't).

    Battery life on the N5 isn't sucky - unless you are a gargoyle, perched on your phone all day. Mine is on 24hour on-battery, with 60% battery used. A spot of wireless charging will extend that easily (not something you get on the G2).

    The speaker situation is the same as the G2.

    The AU G2 has the weird optus frequencies for canberra/4GPlus, the import doesn't.

    The note 3 is a luggable, not a phone.

    I was looking at the G2, but jumped Nexus 5 when the release came out at such a reasonable price. Not reconsidering that now.

      Thanks for the comment. Glad to hear the battery is working out well. I'm usually not a gargoyle, but there are times I will perch on the phone and abuse it for hours - especially when out and about and bored crapless ie school camps (teacher).

      Speaker situation - didn't know that. So, one is for speaker and one for mic, but both disguised to look like speakers?

    Price wise its too steep, comparing with Nexus 5. Would not get G2. Dont see any added value in LG bloatware or even the battery life.

      I'd be rooting and getting rid of the bloatware. Cyanogen mod has started with nightlies for the phone, so a stable should be out soon.
