Toyota GPS system

Our GPS in our Aurion is beautiful, has big screen and sits in a very nice spot. However being more than 3 years old the maps need updating. Unfortunately Toyota wants more than $300 for an upgrade! Cant see why we will spend that money whilst our iPhone and Android has most up-to-date Google Maps etc. That makes the GPS a white elephant sometimes. Still usable but give another two years it might be obsolete.

I am trying to find out if there is a cheaper option than buying from Toyota. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Cheaper option here—

I haven't used these guys before though, but I believe the lexus/aurion dvd's are interchangeable.

There's also a site that allows you to download the update to burn on to dvd, just trying to track that down…

  • Or $295 from here:

This strikes me as excessive though… I'm still trying to find the one i was looking at before…

    • Thanx Adz. Looking forward to the ultimate one from you :-)

  • +1

$300 for a cd that can be easily torrented is crazy (not that I would recommend that)

  • I didn't know GPS should be upgraded or it can be upgraded.. thanks for the idea but $300 is too much! Iphone google map can do that :)

    • Just checked, and here are the prices:
      - Next version will release in March-2014 and cost $250
      - March 2013 Version - $100

Perhaps should go back to good old Refidex…
