  • For those who think GHD is the same as about 7 or 8 years ago it's not. They're all made in China now and the quality is nothing like the ones that they use to have.

If you're looking for a good quality straightener look for Glampalm, which is made by the same Korean company that made GHD before they changed to Chinese manufacturers.

    • That's interesting, I never heard of this korean brand, how new is this brand?? I've heard of Chi

      • Actually a few years now, but only came to Australia about a year ago. When I replaced my wife's GHD I could only get a Glampalm from Korean sellers on eBay but there's plenty of salons that carry Glampalm now.

      • Chi's only available in US and it's 110v. I've searched high and low but nobody carry it, ended up with a BabyBlissPro and it sucks.

  • My hairdresser told me that the founder of GHD set up Cloud 9?

cheaper at lookfantastic.com - using 28 deg card, works out to be just under $155 delivered - and you get a case with it as well. downside is that you need a uk plug adaptor.

Just a word of warning there are MANY fakes out there, if you are buying them from a website make sure you check on the GHD website if they're a legitimate seller - http://www.ghdhair.com/au/help/website-checker

    • I heard there's a lot of fakes too. Sometimes even the seller doesn't know, it's the supply chain issue. My hairdresser said GHD doesn't usually sell on websites except the major stalls and salon directly. If yougoogle the ali websites, China is still churning out huge amount of ghds, its gotta go somewhere.

  • achw- did you actually get it shipped?? lookfantastic wont ship ghd to australia..

    • bought a GHD from lookfantastic previously… no dramas with shipping to Sydney. (back then anyhow)

    • yup i did - ordered end of oct, arrived last friday. they definitely ship to aust.
