Need a BBQ for Summer..... Weber Q100 or Q200

Ok, time has arrived were I need to get new BBQ in-time for summer.
Having never owned one before, it seems the obvious starting point is with a WeberQ. Undecided between the 100 or 200 at this stage.

Having missed all the previous DJ and Ray's deals, anyone know where or how to score a good price on one of these. At this stage Im thinking Ill cash out some Credit Card points on gift vouchers for DJ.

  • I have a 100, I love it.
There is only the two of us, and the size is about right.

Sometimes I would like something a bit bigger, just because I am grilling meat & vegies at the same time.

I believe Masters have a good everyday price, but shop around.

  • I have the 100. Perfect for 2 people. Can fit enough for about 5 or 6 people when we need though. The pizza stone is great, as well as the roasting trivet. Very economical on gas. My sister gave me a smoker box for mine but i haven't been brave enough to try it out yet.

If you have more than 2 people or entertain a lot i'd suggest the 200.

I got mine from Ray's but that was when they did 10% off for online and then another 5% or something for being an NRMA member. They've changed it to store credit now instead of 10% off so it's not a good deal anymore.

  • Get the 220 - there's only 2 of us but I do big roasts in it all the time. You won't regret it. The 220 has a higer lid + thermometer too which is really useful.

  • It's true…i do sometimes wish i had the 200 or 220. Depends how much space you have and how many people you want to feed.

  • Limited space, going onto the balcony… and only for 2 most times. Thought the extra space in the 200 would better down the track, as I figure Ill have it for a long time.

Would like the 220, but then I won't be about to use the Credit points to pay for it, cause Ild have to go to a specialty place to get one.

looked at the 200 today, and its quite a bit bigger in real life then what it appears on the website, so I think Im leaning more towards the 100.

  • I recently got the Weber Baby Q100e BBQ (Specialist Model), this one also has the higher lid, and built in thermometer. I've been really happy with it cooking for 2 so far. Haven't yet tried it our for a roast, but planning to soon.

Don't forget to factor in the:
    a) Gas Bottle, and fill
    b) Trolley
    c) Rain Cover
    d) Grill Plate
    e) …

which you may decide you need as well

  • Decided to go with the Q100. Just picked it up over the weekend but havent had a chance to use it. Got the display model at David Jones with a %15 discount, the only issue being that it has a control knob of the Q200 which is slightly bigger then the 100, but fits fine and will do the job.

Initially was planning just to use a small outdoor table to put it on, but couldnt resist Masters $30 deal last week, so I got the trolley and Gas bottle with a few bits and pieces.
The Filling of the bottle caught me out though, swap and go, didnt relaize you first have to buy a bottle and then buy it to be filled.
