Advice needed for work laptop

Hi guys,

I am after a work laptop (I work in the AEC industry, would be doing some CAD and GIS work, hence would require a fair bit of grunt) around the 1.3k mark, I need a i7 CPU, 8gb+ ram, dedicated GPU 750m and above, preferably 256gb+ SSD, reliable built quality, around 2.5kg (the lighter the better) although I won't be carrying it around all that much.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 is currently on sell for 1199 (got the online chat rep to bring it down to 1187) the main problem with this machine is that the build is fixed, and also no msata connector for future SSD upgrade, otherwise, it looks like a solid and reliable lappy to get some work done.

What do you guys think? any other suggestions?

Cheers,

Have you tried Logical Blue One or Affordable laptops? They both do Clevo branded whitebox builds, all of which are in the high-end category.

If you've never heard of Clevo, they're essentially an OEM laptop chassis producer (much like how Antec produces desktop cases and PSU's, Clevo produces laptop parts) and resellers build systems using their chassis. This option is quite popular amongst gamers since Clevo laptops are usually cheaper compared against Dell XPS / Alienware counterparts.
