4-channel R/C helicopters

Anyone know if there are any good 4-channel R/C helicopters going for under $25 again? I'm hoping to get one for christmas.

  • If you mean the little toy ones, eBay is still a good place to start. The Z103 and Z008 are basically the same thing. My Z008 is a little beauty. Quite a few crashes and ceiling hits, still going strong.
The downdrought is great for annoying your cats ;)

    Here for ~$22
    or
    slightly cheaper here

Choice of colour for $1 more here

I bought from the seller bobowaytoway from the first two links.

    • Oooh… Cat sports! I know a guy that folds a small piece of sticky tape over onto itself so it's sticky all the way around the outside. Then he sticks it to one or two of their cat's feet and puts puss down on the ground. If you do this, get the video cam out to film first the cat, then the reactions of the people in the room.

I'd like to buy some of these 'copters for my kids, but I really don't like the infrared ones. They seem so limited in distance. There's a guy around here that flies some kind of quadra-copter in a park. He zooms all over the place with it, to the point where it's difficult to see it off in the distance. Where can you buy something like that!?

      • The little (they fit on your palm) IR helis are meant for indoor use only and some auction pages state this. Didn't stop me from flying it in our back yard, but I tried to stay within 5-8 metres of it.
The problem for outdoor use is the wind…or even a light breeze, as these things are very light.

As for the quads and bigger helis, I saw one advertised in a catalogue recently, but I recycled that one. Might have been Toyworld. It was a basic quad for ~$89 I think. The range on these is better as they're commonly 2.4GHz.

Kmart have in their catalogue ending 24/11 (P22) a twin blade heli with "hi-res camera" and 2GB card included for $49. It appears to use an FM Tx/Rx.
