Mixed Cases @ Cellarmasters - Half Price ($44- $130, Free Delivery)

10

Just got this one from Everyday Rewards but it has a generic link so I'm pretty sure it's not specific to me. 50-60% off, some great prices there for 6 packs through to a dozen.

Have to follow the specific link to find it or individual links as below.

My best pick would be this 16 bottle mix for $89 - http://www.cellarmasters.com.au/everyday-rewards-media/2013/…

Be aware that these wines are all Woolworths Home Brand wine, and the "regular" prices or RRP are meaningless.
If you like their $5 wines then great, but its unlikely many people ever paid $10 for them.
These are just normal prices in the game of no-name online retailing.

Here is a list of 240 Coles/Woolworths home brand wine labels:

    http://whomakesmywine.com.au/thelist.html

You might see a few other brands like Grant Burge, but they will be lines specially made for woolworths, and not sold elsewhere, not even Dan Murphys which is also Woolworths owned.

Real brands like Penfolds cost more than the frequent specials at your local bottle shop.
So overall, lots of cheap wine, but no bargains to be found.

I'm no wine snob, but some of the best wine I've tasted comes from what you might describe as 'Home Brand' or 'Non real brands'.
(Some of the worst wine has too - but then I've tasted some shockers from 'real brands').
      For $5-$8 a bottle I figure I'll get what I pay for.

If it means anything to anyone, cellarmasters do promise:

      Our 100% Home Tasting Guarantee

We know it’s hard to commit to buying a wine before you try it. That’s why we have our Home Tasting Guarantee. If you try a wine and don’t like it, for whatever reason, just call us and we’ll credit your account. We want you to feel confident trying wines from us, and this makes it completely risk free.
Your satisfaction – or your money back 100%

Every wine we offer has received a medal-winning equivalent score from one of our expert Tasting Panel members using Australian Wine Show judging criteria. But in the end, you’re the only judge who counts. If you don’t like a wine for any reason whatsoever, we will credit your account. It’s that simple.

      • I'm not complaining about the quality, having thoroughly enjoyed a number of their products.

I was just saying that the price are normal, and the claimed discounts misleading.
They should, I hope, still represent better value than name brands on average.

If I was a running an independent winery, I would be very worried about the retailers (Coles and Woolworths seem to control most of the shops now) flooding the shelves with over 200 home brands.

Actually, I think consumers should be very concerned too.

Um, yeah… I was in the warehouse for the preview of this sale weekend before last & got a mixed dozen. Couldn't be happier with the price or the quality. The place was full of lifelong Barossa residents stocking up to the point where the staff looked at us with our one case & said "One case? We don't have a process for that." Everyone else was loading pallets with a staff member each to drive their pallet jack…
