Tool Cabinets and Trolleys - advice needed

I've collected plenty of hand tools over the last 30 years but I've never had a proper storage cabinet. In my last 2 houses I had several old store fixtures (basically 3 big drawers standing 85-90cm high) that held everything but they didn't make it on our last move 3 months ago. A couple of weeks ago I had to replace the starter in the ol' family truckster and I must have spent 5 times longer looking for all my tools than it took to actually do the job. Enough is enough!

I just found this in SCA's christmas catalog. Are they any good? I realize this doesn't get me the worktop I used to have but I'm just thinking of tool storage right now.

Thanks!

  • It certainly looks the part. No matter how organised i want to be, they all just end up everywhere

  • I've been looking at to cabinets too. I can't understand why it's so expensive for some folded up sheet metal and drawslides. I was looking at this one too but I really want a wider trolley. This is only 26". There doesn't seem like much to choose from at an economy price point.

  • Doesn't seem much there at the moment but graysonline has them from time to time and from what I've seen they can be cheaper than retail. Good luck

  • Visit the store and pull the drawers out on one to see if you like it. I've seen several over the years at the right price, but when I go to the store, I find the bearings/runners feel cheap and nasty.

    • Yes I can only agree with this one. The supercheap ones aren't made to a high standard. Best to check before you buy.
