Check in or Hand Carry

I am travelling overseas next month, I am not sure if I should check in or hand carry 5 ereaders gifts not claiming gst. I will also be carrying ipad claiming gst, nexus 7 and kindle for my own use.

I am tempted to check in the 5 ereaders but also worry that it may get damaged.

If I hand carry do I have to remove the tech stuffs and put on the plastic container or is it safe to go through the xray ?

    You may have an issue with all the batteries inside the devices. Recently China banned any products that contained batteries from going on planes, ignore the warnings and your parcel will be destroyed. I know there is a difference as your allowed but yeah.

      Really? So lame, I don't know such things like this. Would you give me some tips about what's the best thing to put on a pack for travels?

    Some airlines are quite specific on their websites which batteries are allowed and which are not, see if you can find something there. Also, have a look at frequent flyer blogs to get some info.
