Best Bank for a 15 Year Old

I'm looking for the best bank in WA for a 15 year old I know there are a lot of factors but I would like to know what one is better.

  • All you'll get is a bunch of personal opinions on which bank people like mixed with a bunch of potentially illegal financial advice.

You're really going to have to post what you need the acc for, how often it will be used, how it will be used, how much going in and out, etc..

But seriously, just do your own research.

  • One with a good interest rate on the savings account would be good with at least $25-50 deposited each month

  • I shop around and recheck from tim e to time and consider Ubank the best. They have special deals for young people. Recommend

  • an http://www.ingdirect.com.au/index.htm ING DIRECT (they have specials for new account so watch OZB) you can use any atm and can link account to a high interest savings account.

  • My son is in uni & we opened an NAB "no fees" account so that he would have a debit card & so I could shift money over to cover his mobile & Smartrider fees. *Smartrider purchased this way (auto recharge) gains a 15% discount, btw.

For savings, we have the "progress saver" from ANZ. I really haven't checked recently- (the "bonus interest" fluctuates)- but I can say that most of the times I have checked, it earned more than any others.

The deal is that the progress saver doesn't actually earn any "real" interest— what you do is deposit at least $10 per month & you get the "bonus interest". Any month you either don't deposit or you access it (take money out) you forfeit that months interest.

Since this is his long-term savings, it is NEVER touched. I also have one of these, plus the "online saver"- which pays less, but doesn't penalize/have the restrictions of the progress saver.

    Cheers!

Meant to add that I have my regular chequeing acct. set up to auto-deposit to his progress saver each month so I never miss.
