Makita 18v Drill (No Hammer)

I missed out on the awesome $99 bunnings special.
I have a Makita LXT 18V impact hammer (Charger and 2 x 3amp batteries), but it is quite heavy and I need a lighter drill to hold and use mainly as screwdriver.

I have quite a bit of decking to remove nails and screw down (countersink, rescrew) - two pieces will work heaps better.

I am looking for the lightest 18v makita drill. skin only is ok as I have batteries, but if the batteries are cheap (and also the smaller 1.5 amp ones) it will be appealing.

Seen them for ~$100 skin on ebay or $150 with one battery.
Posilby worth getting this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Makita-18v-Li-ion-New-Brushless-I…

and giving the charger + battery + driver as a chrissy gift.
any deals on makita 18v?

  • I would have thought the batteries are the heaviest part? Also if they save weight in the tool itself, it generally means they've used more plastic to replace metal parts meaning longevity and durability will be an issue.

If it's for a one time only job have you considered a cheap $10 one from Super Cheap or K Mart? They generally come with a 12 month warranty so if it breaks the first year you use it, back it goes for a replacement! They'll probably use more plastic over metal so should be lighter… in theory anyway.

wouldn't have the torque. a frustrating waste of time.

  • Thanks p3ace. But like altomic said i have too little free time to deal with crap tools. Torque and instant stop all vlueable.

Ironic i pend so much time on here!!!!
