  • These aren't going to cool you during hot nights. It's just blowing the same hot air at you. You'll feel a bit of a breeze but it's still going to be hot.

I would spend a bit more on one that you can add water to.

    • +1

wouldn't adding water make you sick?

    • Are you referring to those misting fans? They're usually quite expensive.

      • No, the portable air conditioners. Hmm, they don't seem to make cheap ones anymore. I bought one for about $40 a long time ago, those ones on wheels. It's very good for the price I paid.

I have a fan like this and a pedestal. It's not cool enough to fall asleep in. And I feel dry and thirsty after a while.

The breeze no longer feels cool after a while. It feels like hot air blowing at you.

    • Moving air is better than stationary air. The movement will help evaporate sweat from your skin, cooling you down.

If it's hot AND 99% humid though, it won't do as much… but you'll still feel cooler than without as you'll still lose some heat to the moving air. Unless it's hotter than 37 degrees indoors at 99% humidity… that's when you jump into the bath tub!

    • Just put a bucket of ice at the back of the fan.
The fan will blow out the iced air.
Done. No need to spend a bit more for the model that you can add water to.

  • Exactly the same one (apart from brand name) $28 @ HN

    Sweet! HN's 110% guarantee!
Since HN is $13 more expensive than Masters, HN will give you $14.3 back after you purchased from HN for $28.
    $28 - $14.3 = $13.7

    • They'll probably say it's not the same as the brand is different and refuse.

  • The misting ones are good for humid areas, but to move the air around and cool you that way, these are really good and take up little room as they can sit on the floor if you're sitting down. And, they're very good for 'white noise' when it's noisy outside.

  • Very nice, got two last year from Target I think it was $15, have to say no problem except nob controls is wearing off.

  • Not guaranteed, but you can probably get Bunnings to price match this. Here's a VERY similar item on their catalog: http://www.bunnings.com.au/nexair-30cm-3-speed-white-box-fan…

I'm going to try this morning.

EDIT: Ahh, you've edited it to the 'Olsen' Brand now - Bunnings probably won't price match it now :/
