Price Matching Super Mario 3D World at JB HI FI $64 (BigW Sale Price) (Broadmeadows confirmed)

Hi,

I couldn't get Super Mario 3D World from Big W as they couldn't find the stock instore.

I rang JB HIFI Broadmeadows and they agreed to price match to the $64 sale price at Big W. No questions asked, didnt need to show anything.

I believe the original price was about $79-80 dollars.

Got it, and the Game is Amazing. If you have a Wii U or want an amazing next gen game, Its a must buy, hands down arguably one of the best games released in a long time.

If your siting on the fence, The Wii U has alot of other great games, such as: Monster Hunter Ultimate 3, Sonic Lost World, Injustice, Assassins Creed 4, Wonderful 101, Need For Speed (Wii U version), Call Of Duty, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario U, Luigi U, Nintendoland, Rayman Legends, Zombie U.

Anyways, hope the post helps for people trying to get the game cheaper without importing and waiting a week or two.

The system is also a cheaper alternative to whats out there, and has great features like MiiVerse (social network for hints and help), backwards compatibility with Wii and its controllers, eShop, free online, tv channel functionality, Amazing Web Browser which accesses Youtube, etc.

Wii U is chalk and cheese with the other two consoles. I have a Wii U, PS3 and waiting on my PS4. I like the Wii U and it is a great alternative console but lets be honest, it's there for first party games.

I agree. I LOVE Nintendo first party games. That's the only reason I ever purchase Nintendo consoles these days. For all my other gaming needs I use my PC.

I think it does go to show though that's it's not necessarily the specs of a console that matters, but the actual game play itself that matters.

I'll definitely be buying a Wii U after Christmas… I've got too much work to get through until then, so I can't be distracted! I've also got a few 3DS games to catch up on!

I'm enjoying the exclusives like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Sonic Lost World. I'd agree that first party exclusives are important for Nintendo's image and recognition, but I really enjoy the variety in particular this time around, very impressive console with alot of great games already.

I got EB Games to price match the Big W price. I showed them the catalog to prove it but without them asking tho. Now just cant wait for Mario Kart 8.

+1 EB Games Price Match to Big W price. Big W seems to have had minimal stock sent to stores, Lilydale for example received 3 copies. Doesn't make sense since it was in the catalogue.

    • My local got very few copies. Talking to the person at the desk though they still have Wii U's from the stock they got when it first came out (and have never received a second order of them). If you aren't selling Wii U's, why would you order in the games?

    you're lucky.
my local EB only price match within the local area(within the Forest Hill Chase centre to be precise), they will call our local BIGW and ask if there's stock. that's what happened when i tried to price match a rayman game last time.

i believe that beatthebomb had this game for $50ish a while ago (with a discount code & as a pre-order) but i missed out.
hope they put the deal back on again.
the trailers and reviews of the game seem amazing.
    have fun with it.

    • That EB is particularly shocking, EB at the glen are a lot better though there is only target and JB to price match with

yes you are right, that manager is an exception. some ppl just like to play with their privilege and won't let you go easy.

  • I know the games great, but is it worth it? I usually don't pay more than $30 for a game and this game is never going to be that cheap but the last 3D Mario I played was Sunshine and it took me 25+ hours to finish and it was nicely challenging (I only managed to finish it this year). I hear 3D World is kinda easy and I've seen the white tanooki suit. $64 isn't going to sit well with me and I've heard the game is only 9 hours long (I know it'll take longer to 100%). So, worth it? How much Nintendo magic is in it?

Apparently if you rush through it, without actually doing alot of in-game stuff, you could potentially finish it within 9 hours. BUT thats if you ignore alot of content in the game. Theres also post-game content and levels that apparently unlock later, (plus a hidden character with special abilities)

The white tanooki suit appears if you die too many times, but you don't have to use it.

There are apparently a bunch of levels that are quite difficult, but the game eases you into it.

If you play games for quantity and not quality, then I'd say your in it for the wrong reasons.

This is an amazing game, with high replay value and well thought-out multi-player.

But the co-op is local only isn't it?

        • +1

I'll be playing with wife and two small kids so it's perfect for me.

        • Thats correct. Hopefully later down the line, more of these Mario games get Online Multiplayer.

Gamers are pushing them to do it alot more in their first party games.

There are some Online functions which I haven't figured out (sharing of 'stamps' you collect along the way), as well as sharing 'Ghost Mii' characters with other users….

This game is in the Miiverse (online social network) which you can access in-game to find hints, tricks and secrets people have shared.

It also has off screen play, with the Gamepad (you can play without the tv screen).

I agree about the price – I just bought a Wii U and so I'll buy a few preowned games first, then get this when preowned copies start trickling into the marketplace. What can I say - I'm a 50% off kinda guy :Þ

      • +1

I understand games are expensive in Aus, I think we all know that! : )

Preowned is cool, it works for me because I trade-in a bit.

I will say I normally don't buy games at $60+ unless I really want them,

But I will say, of all the games i've bought at that price, This is definitely worth it.

EBGames has alot of NEW WII U Games with over 50% off here:

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/goto/123739

$28 Rayman Legends, Marvel Avengers, Darksiders II, Just Dance 4, Arkham City,

        Injustice $23

        Zombie U $19

Someone else found that sale, not me: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123739

        • It's just too bad ZombiU is the only exclusive. I would've hoped Lego City, Monster Hunter or even Wonderful 101 would be on sale even if they are new.
