50% off The Age/SMH for Three Months

80

Stumbled across half price The Age/SMH access for three months. Decent reads, though is generally biased to the left.

You can also view it in Incognito Mode / Private Mode and get it free - the "free article" counter is cookie based so private browsing means you can browse as much as you like, even on mobile.

I have cookie exceptions set to clear on exit for The Age and SMH websites. More work to set up, but I don't have to care about browsing any differently.

    • i think i love you, thanks heaps

    generally biased to the left

Just read The Australian on one day every week, that should cancel any bias.

… or watch Sky News 30 mins a week (or Chris Kenny 5 mins) … fortunately we are an Alan Jones-free zone in Melbourne.

I thought Gina had messed up Fairfax … since she got involved I didn't renew my subscription (also because shot up in price from the great Ozbargain deal I had $52 for Thu-Sunday for 52 weeks, then $52 for 7 days a week for 6 months).

The internet & my student son's increasingly right wing AFR (also Fairfax) are more than enough news for me - and I love the excellent advice above about Private Mode and cookies … my eyes have been opened! :)

      • We have Neill mitchel thought asd 3AW
Only difference with Alan Jones is
Alan Jones accepts he is right wing
Mitchel keeps telling us he is not right wing
        Just in Denial
Not that I care about politics just
        tell us the truth

    • I guess it's easy to mistake relative objectivity for bias when you've been spoonfed right wing garbage all your life.

      • If only that were true. Look at the number of retractions and apologies the two newspapers have had to make, and then look at what the retracted articles were about. And if you still think "The Australian" is unbiased, get back to me.

"The Australian" reckons that editorial opinions don't have to be factually correct, and have put that in writing.

        • I think you mistook my meaning Russ. I was having a shot at the OP's comment. Anyone who thinks that ANY of the mainstream press is left-leaning (including Fairfax) is either naive or ignorant, possibly both.

        • You are correct, I did misunderstand your intention. Apologies for that!

When I browse incognito on my iphone the pages don't load correctly, you can't see all of the articles on the mobile site than you can otherwise.

I reckon its well worth the <$1 a day they are asking to be honest, I easily get that value out of it.

  • The Age app is borked on my Nexus 7 tablet after updating to KitKat. They are always behind when it comes to fixing problems and the email support is useless

  • Oh, it's a digital subscription BTW.

  • "because" instead of "though"? ;)

The Age is a rip off

  • Also 50% off the AFR digital subscription as well, $340 for 12 months https://subscribe.afr.com/afr/

Thank you, I subscribed just now. Have been reading in incognito mode because at first I thought it would be almost $30, which is too much for my pocket. I don't read news everyday, and some days the front page is full of silly stories ala Schapelle Corby types (what's so amazing about her anyway, apart from her looks, if she had been a middle age bloke with beer belly, noone would care a bit). I even wished it would be price per article. Just saw now there's an option of $15 per month, with this 50% discount it's even better.
    I'd rather SMH than news.com.au.
