Car stereo advice

My christmas mission is to find my mum a stereo/speaker combo for a truck

I have very little knowledge on the subject and was hoping some of the knowledgable people here could help me

The only requirements are that it has aux in for the iphone and that it can play loud enough to be heard clearly over the truck. She doesn't really care about sound quality or accuracy, just wants some decent volume that isn't distorted. Also the truck will be very bumpy so hopefully not one of those cheap ones that stops everytime it hits a bump

It currently just has a really cheap stereo and $30 pair of speakers

Looking to spend less than $200 if that is possible, but the cheaper the better

If there is any more info that is needed I will try my best to find out the answers

Thanks guys!

  • repco have some cheapys i think it is automedia brand i had one they actually sound really good to but the are under $100

  • When did car audio get so cheap? Back in my day this stuff was so expensive…. Did integrated audio in every car kill this market?..

    • Jb hifi used to have whole walls of car audio… I don't even think the new stores sell car audio anymore.

Full integration has killed the market, my car, a ford FG ute, I can't do nothing to improve the stereo… But thankfully stock standard stereos are pretty good thesedays.

  • Depending on your needs I'd consider one without CD mechanism. They are often cheaper and have ipod connectivity. I can't remember the last time I used a cd in the car. It's all USB stick or SD card for me now.
