I am thinking of buying a Dell XPS laptop (about $1200) and instead of buying Dell's extended 2 year warranty (about $200), I am thinking whether I can make use of a Platinum credit card's "Extended Warranty" scheme. My card is from ANZ, but I think all Platinum cards offer a similar warranty.
"Only articles with a manufacturer’s unique identification serial
number on them are covered under this insurance."

Has anyone gone down this path? How easy/difficult to make a warranty claim under this?
