Media players

Hi, I'd like to get an easy to use media player for my mum…I have bought her one in the past (Patriot Box Office Core) but even that was too complicated for her…

I was thinking an Android-based one as the interface would be familiar (she has an Android phone).

The main thing I need out of it is ability to browse Windows shares. ABC iView and YouTube would also be good.

I use XBMC but that would be too hard for her. Need something a bit more stable and polished.

Anyone have any recommendations? Budget's probably no more than $200…but I might stretch it if it's really worth it.

  • What about a Midnight G Box MX2? It costs around $108 USD delivered from Amazon.

  • Can't go too far wrong with a WD live, use to have one but now own the Popcorn 400 which is pretty awesome now the glitches have been ironed out but a little pricey.

  • The WD ones have come a long way since I last looked at them (couple years ago now)…didn't support YouTube and iView back then nor many formats. I reckon I'll get one of them. Cheers.

  • Minix Neo X7. Review is here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBR3ZrurMKI

Probably get her a Logitech K400 compact keyboard, it works really well with it and is easy to use.
