I am after a new TV for my 16 year old son to put in his bedroom, has anyone got any suggestions as to best brand etc. I don't want one with a DVD included in the TV - thanks in anticipation

Is he a gamer? If so- plasma ;)

Depends on a couple of things like main usage, how much it will be used and such. As w4rrior said plasma has better picture quality for gaming however it will use more power and also may get burn in from the HUD in games

he is a 16 year old boy, what do you expect him to be using it for?

go plasmas as the picture quality is much better especially when he is watching porn in his room at night when everyone is asleep.

sound quality wouldn't be an issue as the volume will most likely be off anyways.

  • All our bedrooms have this one from Samsung.

You can usually find it cheaper than JB.

  • JB also has a 32 inch Soniq TV for $199. The only problem is it's Soniq but they're not that bad.

  • I am looking for a 100hz 32" smart tv - any good ones around?

    • Why do you want 100hz?

      • thought I'll get the best ;)

  • Go for a Samsung 32 inch it's around $350 on special or you can get a 28 inch for a little bit cheaper, I've had one for yrs and its really good pic plus lcd's use a lot less power than plasma tv's

    • Plasma's don't use that much more.
Please give a specific model of led vs plasma to back up your comment?
They are cheaper to buy which will account for years of power usage.

      • They aren't as bad as they were but they still use more plus they heat up more and they can screen burn easier and are heavier, not to mention there is hardly any choice out there when it comes to plasma's.
The cheapest plasma's I can find is the 50" lg hd tv for $598 at the good guys
The cheapest lcd I can find is the Palsonic full hd led lcd tv for $599 @ jbhi factory scoop
But my suspicions are this mother's son @ 16 doesn't need that size and should probably go for a 40 inch at most.

  • get 100" projector! Who needs a tv?

  • Any comments on Samsung UA32F6400 32" tv on special for $597 at Bing Lee http://www.binglee.com.au/samsung-ua32f6400-series-6-32inch-…

    • Went and got one at Myer sales - oh boy, what a great TV. I have had Sony (high end) and LG (high end), but this one has so many features and best thing was the pic quality and the responsive remote!

      • How much did you end up paying?

        • I paid $599 (with $12 back on Myer points.

It is a bit more now, but Myer do Price match
