Qantas Points - Do you verify them?

The points come from everywhere: Rewards card, various credit cards, fuel voucher, sometimes there are bonus points…
I wonder anyone do an audit of their points and get what they deserve.
Not that I have done it yet. But somehow my points dont seem to move much, and I know I have clicked some "Activate Now" when they had promotions on.
Another tedious laborious exercise.

  • Never…too much work. Same as FlyBuys. To verify the points, you would have to keep track of everything, keep ALL the receipts, work out the points you get with each transaction… it's like doing the taxes 24-7! And even if you worked out you have some missing points, re-claiming them would be another nightmare.

  • Being an Auditor by nature I do, well use to. But only because I work hard for my points and want to make sure they go across. I however have come to the point where I trust my Bank and Woolworths to transfer the correct amounts as I haven't discovered any mistakes by them in the past.

To be honest, for me to track them was easy. I keep all my receipts naturally and enter them into my budget worksheet so I can keep tracking of my spending. At the end of the month I just filter my transactions and do a quick calc to what should be going to my QANTAS account.

But with my experience with these big firms and how they account for and transfer the liability of the reward points. There is very detailed computer systems that tracks it all with no human input.

  • I find that Woolworths and Big W bonus points dont always transfer over. Standard points always do, but the 3 times in the past 6 months Ive queried missing bonus points with them, theyve always instantly added them.

  • Thanx everyone for your responses.
Interesting responses, from one end to the other.
We are all so busy and I really cannot afford the time to check, and more so, to follow-up.
It stills intrigues me as to why my points dont move much. Hopefully one day I will find the time to check.

  • I did not, but a few days ago I created a speadsheet which will be used to streamline points bookkeeping.
I still do not aim to check every single point but probably most transactions and overall balance, to make sure that it is roughly how much I am suppose to earn.
