Shops have gone quiet in last week of xmas trading :(

Has anyone else noticed the crappy deals across the board this week? There are very little good deals around to draw anyone in. I can understand places like coles and woollies doing it because they know we will have to shop anyways in the last week for xmas food regardless if they do good specials or not. But others like big w, kmart, jbhifi, dicksmith and myer all have crap deals.

  • All the better for the upcoming post-Xmas sales!

  • Maybe they have hit sales targets already ?

I'm sure they will be full of people buying rubbish regardless, why have good prices?

Online shopping has changed alot of things in recent years. One of them is that bricks and mortar stores figure that in the last week or two before Christmas, people still shopping - even if they are or were keen online shoppers - are operating outside guaranteed delivery windows and are hence a captive audience, price-wise.

  • I dunno but if I was a retailer I would at least have one amazing deal to draw in people. The only retailer who has good specials coming this week are Target, their catalogue has console deals and lots 50% off deals.

    • I think among some retailers at least, there might be a little bit of a collective price 'circling of the wagons' mentality at play at the moment. Might be a bit different in post-Christmas sales, depending on desperation/stock levels.

      • That's a thought.
