BitDefender Total Security $20.14

90

A new year promotion and it seems like a good deal.

Award-winning antivirus.

Personally used it and I have no complain whatsoever. Hassle-free subscription renewal.

The cost is around AUD$20.14, however the credit card payment charge is in Euros ($13.05), something to take note.

Furthermore, before placing order, there is a section called 'Continuous Protection' , make sure you disable that. (Thanks to eddiet83)

I did this with them via PayPal last year and it was set at automatic renewal which charged me 69 euros. Just make sure when paying you go and turn that off because it took a month dealing with their call centres in 7 occurrences to get the refund

    • Good comment and a trap, but you can disable the auto renewal through your "Avangate" account which is set up when you buy the product through this OP link.

I have two PC's running Windows 8 with Bitdefender Total and I love it - no problems at all and has saved me more than once. At $20 good deal for three PC's.

Just a heads-up for Westpac customers that you can get this for free: http://www.westpac.com.au/security/bitdefender-lp/

    • cheers for the info. Didn't know that at all.

    • I don't think that offer is still valid. They just didn't take down the page. I tried it the other day. Instructions:

Sign in to Online Banking, select Security from the menu, and follow the instructions to download the software from Bitdefender.

I sign in, and under Security menu, there is no such instruction. There's no mention anymore.

Try changing your browser. I did this for my dad and I think from memory chrome didn't work, but IE did…. Sorry don't remember which browser ended up working, but I do remember that chrome didn't work

The link is just not there. Why would a different browser make a link appear? I used firefox btw.

And I'm not touching IE with a 10 foot pole.

  • AVG or Avast are free -

I have used both of these for years and never had any problems with viruses.

    Microsoft Security Essentials is free.

    • +1 for Microsoft Security Essentials is free.

    • I second Avast free. It's been fast, low memory usage and better detection/prevention than Microsoft Security Essentials.

I tried bit defender for free from westpac and hated it. Seemed to always freeze on me and I couldn't get it to quit/open half the time.

you're not the only one having problems with bitdefender. got the total security and it slowed down the whole PC. 10 minutes to login to windows. had to uninstall and never going back to them again.

Support was also bad from them. went back to AVG free after this.

slow, controls are too dumbed down, limited customisability, memory hog. Rates well in AVcomparatives but if not free i wouldnt have used it on one of the comps here

    • I tried it the other day with a free key someone gave me. I didn't have freezing or slowness issues after boot, but my boot time immediately increased from under 20 secs to over 2 minutes. There was a pause at the welcome screen (spinning circle) after entering password, then a black screen pause after that. I uninstalled it the next day and the problem was fixed.

I am running Windows 7 with Intel SSD.

I got the SSD because I wanted ultra fast boot time. Installing this just defeats that purpose, if my boots are going to be 10 times slower than HDD.

Oh by the way, removing it completely was impossible. I used their uninstall tool from website, and it got rid of it, or so I thought. It was gone from uninstall menu. But when I rebooted and installed a different AV, BD was still there. Yet I couldn't manually remove it because it's no longer in the menu. Tried the uninstall tool again, and many of its processes couldn't execute and it failed to uninstall completely. It just can't stop its own processes and tries to remove them when they're already running.

Had to try rebooting into safe mode. That got rid of most of it except one process which still can't be removed.

      Very amateur software imo.

      • I find that Anti-Virus software is usually more annoying than any virus and harder to get rid of too.

  • I have used a few free antivirus software over thee years such as avast, Avira, AVG…etc. you don't know if you have infected files until you install a good virus scanner such as bitdefender, kaspersky to see how many files are infected.

I had a similar problem like freezing with bitdefender on windows 7 in one of my PCs and fixed with upgrade to windows 8.

Yes, it can make your PC slow but, it is a very good antivirus software at the moment. This is definitely a deal.

  • haha freezing is the least of ur worries with bit defender.

twice while under their "protection" they have updated to buggy virus definitions deleting half the stuff off my pc. the first time it was just a few programs and their related files things like solidworks and steam and some games all legit copies too. then 2nd time it went nuts deleted most of the windows folder and >40% of the information on the harddrive because i wasnt at the computer when it updated. ended up having to format that computer and only just saved my laptop by running and turning it off after i just started it..

as for avast uninstalling it broke all the windows user profiles set up at the time so i had to create all new user accounts from safe mode.. which was fun..

+1 for MSE and AVG didnt give me any issues either but i still clone my disk before i install or uninstall a antivirus nowdays

    • Deleted Windows folder and 40% of your hard drive? Are you on crack?

  • I have been using Total security for at least 5 years now and I love it. Blows most other security suites out of the water. While I have tried a number of the highly recommended free ones the top rating are antivirus only which means I need to stuff around with firewalls etc from a different company. For convenience and piece of mind I prefer to go with BD. Heads and shoulders above Norton. Cheers for the heads up OP.

  • Does anyone know if you currently have a subscription and you buy this, will it add the year to your current subscription or reset it to a year?

    • Yes it did for me and I also upgraded to 2014 from 2013 with no problems.

  • This deal is not expired!
