Cut and Polish - Interior steam clean - Any good deal at the moment!

Morning all

I want to buy a Christmas present for my wife, her car needs a cut and polish bad but i really don't know where to go.
Scoopon got a few deals going on but i'm not sure to trust them or not.

Anyone know a decent (not cheap, not too expensive) place or deal around sth East Melb?

Thank you very much

  • Are you sure it needs a cut & polish? Most cars have used a clear coat for years now.

As for the interior… I've seen car yards steam 'clean' car seats and the results are pretty ordinary. On the other hand, a couple of months ago I was stripping a 1985 car for parts. So I removed one seat (four nuts), removed the cover, and chucked it in the washing machine on gentle with some fragrant shampoo to see how it turned out. (Shampoo removes blood stains so it's good for lots of other stains too.) The cover wasn't overly dirty, but the car had been used on a farm. Dogs inside, hay bales carried around, etc. It came out looking brand new and smelling nice.

There's short bits of wire crimped through thick sections of the upholstery and around thicker longer wires sewn inside the covers. They crimp through the cloth and onto bits of the metal seat frame. I guess they're called hog ties because the tool used to close them are called 'hog tie pliers'. I opened them up carefully with two pairs of needle nose pliers just enough to rotate them and pull them out, so I could close them up again later with a normal pair of pliers. I put it back on the seat after washing to make sure it could be done. It was much easier than I thought it would be and the results were great.

Only thing I'd recommend is to put the cover back on while it's still slightly damp. Just in case it's the type of material that shrinks.

  • An update

Never buy scoopon Car wash or Cut and Polish deals.

I bought this deal https://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/52374 which i upgraded to Cut & Polish for $89. The OWNER of this carwash was rude toward customer, un-reasonable.

I left my car at 8.30am and didn't get it back until 6:30. The Cut and Polish job was BAD, bad enough that the car looks like it only got a wash and that was it.
