It doesn't have to be on Boxing Day does it? You could do your bargain hunting every other day and most of the things you buy online are far cheaper than what many brick retailers would do.

To me Boxing Day seems to be more of the same nowadays..clothes and appliances. But never usually the stuff I'm looking for!

    • Yes it has to be Boxing Day! :) It is just more convenient to go on the one day where all the stores are having a sale. Not to mention the enjoyment of seeing frantic buyers and long queues… it's the closest thing Australia has to Black Friday madness.

I'm not sure why you don't just buy online from wiggle/eastbay/startfitness..
Should be cheaper than any Boxing Day Sale.
Which ones are you trying to purchase?
Gym and hiking shoes are very different :|
Their tread is different, the closest shoe you'd get to do both is probably a trail running shoe. I wouldn't recommend this if the majority of the shoe will be used in the gym.

I agree about the difference in shoes. I have my Asics bought on special for ~$150-180. I bought a pair of hiking shoes for $100 (50% off inflated Kathmandu RRP) and they're a different beast - thicker sole (more comfortable off the beaten track, less rocks etc felt through the soles), different cushioning, and awesome waterproofness.

I can't think of anything less convenient.

While for OzBargainers sales is all year around, retailers are still doing promo on special dates. Christmas? Boxing day? Father's/Mother's/Valentine's day? Or even ClickFrenzy.

Well for me I much prefer to chill out on the boxing day, taking some rest before getting back to bargain hunting again in 2014. However looks like there's going to be lots of sales around.

Boxing day sales never fail to disappoint

  • Start fitness no longer ship asics to Australia due to manufacturers restrictions :(

    • Nooooo :( oh well they had a good run, I'm surprised they were able to do it for so long

    • I guess it is back to wearing Nikes. QQ

    1. DVDs and blu rays
    2. Clothes and a new pair of shoes.
    3. Games (probably see if Big W has anything decent for $5)

Pretty much the usual stuff. I'm not really after anything too expensive.

  • What sort of deals are on at camera shops like local camera store, Teds etc? I never been to any in the previous years. Do they run any good deals?

    • There isnt much in cameras for brick and motar shops to slash. Do not expect too much unless it is something they are trying to clear at below cost.
