Best/cheapest site to buy music from?

I used to be someone who would support my favorite artists by buying CD's, but over the years I've done it less and less as digital music services have started to get popular and more continent now.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has transitioned to this stage, and would like to see how other people purchase their music. For context, I have an Android phone(iTunes is out of the question as it became a system-hog for us) and use Spotify Premium currently but would like to actually own the songs(particularly for when travelling when I come across black-spots).

Any recommendations from fellow Ozbargainers would be welcomed.

I've been using iomoio (for about 2months) which is pretty cheap and have had no trouble so far. Has most popular artists and even a few aussie groups. Seems legal, though think it's in one of those grey areas.

It isn't the cheapest but I love cdbaby. It allows independent artists to sell their music in all kinds of formats (including flac). The artists themselves set the prices and the majority of the money goes into their pockets (which is far from true from most music purchasing avenues these days).

  • You could just use iTunes to buy your music and play it on whatever player you use.
With all the iTunes card discounts and deals its hard pressed to recommend anything else.
