  • Been going to HKG for years stayed at many different hotels, trip in OCT stayed at the recently fully refurbished Marco Polo Gateway, good size rooms for hotels there, near MTR and waterfront, another place is the Salisbury YMCA also in top nick, best location too.

At airport grab fast train ticket to city and MTR train ticket too, can cash out what you don't use on departure near check in for onward fight in HK down town terminal.

Depending on how many people you are travelling with and how much luggage you are taking along taxi might be a more pleasant alternative for only a little more.

    • I've also stayed at the YMCA. Good location and spacious rooms.

We stayed in Eaton Smart earlier this year and it was quite good.

Look up accommodation on tripadvisor, increases your sample size ;)

  • I stayed here http://www.ovolohotels.com/hotels/256TCS/en/ 2 years ago. Got a deal for about $150 on Booking.com. The hotel was new, although the area was a bit run down but near to all the Electronics shops/malls that suited me. They have other places around the city. The rate included breakfast (Very good basic buffet with real espresso coffee, plus they did a happy hour bar which went on for 2 hours and was FREE.
I would stay here again but would also check out their other places in preference just to get in a better area.
Depends on what you want, if you want the glitz/tourist areas then this place would not suit but if your ok with getting amongst the real HK then this is ok.

  • It was back in May 2012 we stayed at the City View Hotel in Waterloo Road, Kowloon.
AUD $78 per night. We were very delighted with the standard. Big rooms, very clean, great location, friendly staff. We'd never look for anywhere else in the future. Amazingly good. We booked thru expedia.com

  • Langham Place in Mongkok, amazing! :)

  • How many people?

  • Thanks for the reply.
Just my husband and I :)

  • Metropark in HK, recently stayed there with my family and parents, if you get the executive suite, you get access to afternoon tea and drinks (basic spirits included), their rates change depending on season as do most. 5 min walk to MTR, so you can take the train all the way, then walk from the Station to hotel. 5 min walk,if that to Tram into HK and 5 min tram ride and you are at Times Square.
It was top of our least due to price and beautiful views from it's rooftop heated pool.

  • We like Royal Plaza in Mongkok. spacious rooms, located near East Mongkok MTR ( convenient to Shenzhen trains) and walking distance to Prince Edward MTR. Near markets, next to a shopping centre and near lots of great eating places. Might be out of your budget but highly recommend it,

Sis stayed at Dorsett Mongkok and she was quite happy with it. This would be under your budget, near Olympic MTR

My In laws stayed at City View Hotel and were also happy with it

    • Have stayed at the Royal Plaza several times and would thoroughly recommend it too - but perhaps not for 2 nights - given your short stay I think you may be better to stay in the Marco Polo or YMCA as they are right near the harbour. This will give you easy access to shopping, the MTR, restaurants and the ferry to Hong Kong island. Have a great trip.
