I think this is always free? Never thought I'd see the day of Sonic in a Mario level after growing up in the Master System/Mega Drive days

  There is an entire game dedicated to Mario roaming through an entire sonic game playing like Sonic.

  Same here! The rivalry was fierce back in the day! They go well together these days though I think. They should make a full game together with Sonic and Mario teamed up.
