Virgin Mobile broadband discounts?

I need to buy a recharge for my mum's mobile broadband - she's using it more quickly than she used to, so I'm trying to keep the per-month cost down.

Are there any deals at the moment for discounts on this?

Thanks.

I have same problem. I read somewhere that Virgin were no longer offering discounts through external agencies - just as they withdrew the Dick Smith offer to supply the $149 recharge for $134 - several months ago. So it's down to direct-from-Virgin: $99 for 8GB up to 6 months; $149 for 12 GB up to 12 months - unless it's changed; haven't checked recently. Good news is that a thorough survey on behalf of Virgin was recently carried out concerning amongst other things - reliability & value for money. If they take note of what MUST have been said, maybe prices will come down?
Alternatively, Vodafone offer 15GB for 12 months for $125, & both Woolworths & Coles recently ran offers of 20% off ALL Vodafone recharge vouchers. Unfortunately neither store could confirm that they could sell me a $125 broadband recharge voucher for $100!! So they're losing business - but maybe Coles & WW will have the same offer again before too long - & maybe you could get some sense out of your local supermarket suppliers? Vodafone confirm the vouchers had a 6-month shelf life, so as long as your mum is in a good Vodafone reception area, she could have & keep one of those vouchers for a future recharge…May have top pay for Vodafone dongle - OR - get Virgin dongle unlocked (Start now; it's a very time consuming palaver!!)
Recheck my info with your local Vodafone store, if of interest…

  • Our Virgin post-paid broadband costs $39.90 per month for 12GB, which usually is quite sufficient for our requirements. We have been paying the same for years. If you do need more, it ceases to function (no unplanned bills though) and you can top up for $15 per GB with a quick call … fortunately that has not happened often! You can check your usage online to keep tabs on your usage easily. Also, as opposed to Vodafone, you don't pay any extra for roaming; great if you travel or holiday with it.

  • Thanks for the replies, guys.

In the end, to get mum going over Christmas, I got a recharge voucher from Coles (at 10pm!) - $199 for 18GB over one year, same price as online.

Annoyingly, I forgot to produce my Flybuys card with it, and the guy didn't ask either - so instead of a cool 35c petrol discount I got the standard 8c/l :-(

mmecholet, good idea about unlocking the Virgin dongle - I'll get onto that!
